Any Future Spending on This Iraq War Should Be Tied In To Rollbacks on Bush's Tax Cuts
For every dollar that Bush wants spent on this war, the Democrats should tie that dollar to rollbacks on Bush's tax cuts for the rich. Make Bush's base pay for this war. In fact, it should be a 2 to 1 split. For every $1 that Bush wants to spend on this war, $2 should be rolled back on his tax cuts. If Bush doesn't sign it, then the war gets no money and the troops would be forced to come home.

And, when the Republicans charge that the Dems want to raise taxes, then they can rebut that charge that they were spending the money on the troops and the war. They can list the proposed "surge" in troop levels and talk about shared sacrifice. How can you morally ask a family to sacrifice a loved one if you're not willing to pay for it.

I just pray that the Dems are smart enough to do this.

1. Current & past spending too.
Throwing a war for the profit of a few while letting them slide on their taxes too is just obscene and to continue such folly will bring about the end of capitalism.

Capitalism will fail for the same reasons Communism failed: Greed allowed to rampage unchecked.

2. Could you define rich?
I like this idea, but as a father of three (and a family of five) earning ~80K a year, I am not poor but not rich either by any stretch considering the cost of living in my area. I will honestly say that the little extra money I've gotten back has helped us out as gas and utility prices continue to rise.

I want the estate tax repealed post haste. There's a TON of money that could go back into the coffers. You can't use it wehn you're dead now can you?

3. Excellent.
(By the way, a minor point, but it's not a war. It's an occupation.)

5. A very good idea
Roll back some of the tax breaks the rich got-not only the estate tax, but some of the capital gains tax as well. And raise the rate on anyone whose income is in the top 1%.
