Poll question: 800lb Gorilla in Congress: Iraq
I have a feeling that the DLC wing(Rahm, Hoyer, etc) ran away from the Iraq issue during the campaign until they realized Americans of all stripes were sick of their war. So then they went and half-assed went after Bush - while still mostly avoiding the war and lies that led up to it.

Now it's put up or shut up. End the war and leave office in 2 years in disgrace. What's it going to be? A trillion more dollars and thousands more dead? Or admitting we lost the country, time to cut the hemorrhaging of treasure and blood and start rebuilding our military.

So what's DU pulse on Iraq now that we control the legislature? Will bemake a meaningful effort? Or a superficial one? Will we blame it on the repukes as an excuse to do nothing? Or will we grow spines, or shiny brass balls, or whatever your preferred metafor for standing tall against *co? Do we have what it takes?!

2. You can't generalize what each one will do
I think the leadership is not showing their hand right now. It's a poker game but they know they have to play to win. Some, like Jim Webb, will passionately work to end the war. Others, like Biden, will hem and haw.

We have got to be more active in protesting ourselves to force the Democrats and Republicans to end this war. It won't be done without us hitting the streets. I've lived though that before.

3. Time is on the side of the Dems.
The GOP will not want this weight around their neck in '08.
