PREDICTION: Cheney Will Perjure himself during testimony
And Fitzgerald is ready for it. Rove and Scooter have cut deals to take down Cheney. When he does, he'll be forced to resign and then he'll be indicted.

14. Rove and Scooter
Rove was going to be indicted. Truthout was not the only one who thought this. Why wasn't he? Because he cut a deal.

Scooter, if he has half a brain, would not rely on Cheney's testimony for his defense. But it is the DEFENSE that is calling Cheney, not the Prosecution. The only way they would do this is to set Cheney up for a fall.

All Clues and Guts, no facts, just supposition.

25. Thanks for the theory. I meant Rove and Libby. I'm afraid I type
Cheney's name too often and it is imprisoned in my head. What an awful thing! Maybe I should quit trying to follow what these mad men/women creatures are doing to do to my country. But, not until after this Brewsster-Jennings-Wilson event, followed by the civic trial of the Wilsons and the international tribunals for war crimes.

10. If he testifies at all.
Still very much an open question. A court requesting his appearance will not, by itself, impress him.

If you were Rove or Libby, who would YOU be more afraid of? Fitzgerald or Cheney?

12. It's the defense that will be calling him to the stand.
If Scooter is cutting deals why would he use him as a witness?
I doubt this is against Cheney's will. He surely agreed to it in private.

15. It's a perfect setup for the defense to call him and not the prosecution
If the prosecution was calling him, Cheney would be defensive. Cheney won't be prepared for a betrayal from the defense.

13. I hope you are correct. That would be quite a spectacle!
However, I'm afraid Dick won't have any recollection of anything, and will step down shortly after testifying due to health reasons. No doubt it won't be difficult to find a medical expert who will testify Cheney is in fragile health. :eyes:

It didn't bother Raygun and it didn't bother Nixon.

They were born without a conscience. That's what

made them decide to be rethuglicans.

17. I expect a lot of "don't recall" and 'corrected' testimony - IF he testifies at all.
I don't pretend to have a crystal ball ... so I'll wait for it to happen.

It's hard for me to imagine, given what I've seen so much of from Cheney, that he'll come close to telliing the truth ... or even a close approximation. His incredible arrogance would, in a 'fair' world, put him unavoidably in contempt of court at the very minimum. It'll be a challenge to counsel to save him from it, imho.

Those that gave up on Fitz will see for themselves that, this guy is no push over, and the dirt we all knew was there....is there.
Cheney will be gone by the end of January !
Why do you think McCain has been sucking ass so hard here lately ? He really believes the Senate will confirm him...and they just may.

21. I made a post a few weeks back that McCain would end up being the next President
I got a lot of boos and jeers, but the principle was the same...

Cheney would resign, then Bush would resign or be impeached.

36.  I doubt it very much indeed.
He's not a fool; he knows every word he says will be scrutinised more closely than a very-closely-scrutinised thing. You can bet that he'll go over every possible question with a team of lawyers before hand to work out *exactly* how far he can go without technically committing perjury.

The chances of him actually committing perjury are very slight indeed, and the chances of him being convicted of it are negligable.

38. I hope you're right
The part about Cheney's perjuring himself is a given. Whether or not his perjury can be proven is another matter. None of these people, not one of them, have any reservations about lying. It's one of the things they do automatically. They look down on the rest of us, and see no reason to play by whatever silly rules the rest of us do.

If this doesn't get him, then there are several other tripwires out there. I sincerely hope he doesn't heart attack out of justice, whether real or staged, I want, no need this monster to face justice for everything he's brought about.

42. I hate to be a gloomsayer...
...but even if Cheney is caught red-handed (or tongued, as the case may be) by the time anything like indictments, resignations, or even a real trial can be put together, it'll be 2009.

If there's one thing you can say about Fitz, it's that he moves with glacial slowness.
