And no, this is not me saying "You should all be talking about X instead of Y, for shame!" or any crap like that. Granted, there are threads out there on the Shia-Sunni schism, the Joint Chiefs and the generals publicly disagreeing with Bush on Iraq strategy, Navy vets getting tortured in Iraq, we're 50 soldiers shy of 3,000 dead and already up to almost 47,000 wounded, the viability of a Kucinich campaign, serious environmental issues, and oh yeah, Dick Cheney is going to get subpoenaed in the Libby matter.

Nah, this is GD, which does get buck-wild every once in a while.

But smoking? Flame wars between smokers and non-smokers? 50 threads of it?

Let me head some of you off at the pass:

No, I'm not telling you what to talk about.

No, I'm not trying to stifle speech.

No, I'm not even choosing a side.

No, I'm not trying to keep you from voicing your opinion.

But, in the interests of speech, opinions and discussion, please allow me to offer my opinion on the whole smoking-threads fiasco.

36. I started one about the smoking ban in Ohio

It is written into the law that if you run a business out of your home, smoking is prohibited if people come to your house during business hours.

The thread became a flamefest between the smokers and the nons. I think we need to watch out for laws being written to monitor or own homes, but the non smokers have been programmed to "just say no" while laws are being introduced to kick in their front doors. Oh well, no biggie.
