The reason people start smoking threads in GD

is because they know it's a guarentee flamewar that'll get 100 response - thus an attention getter.

Perhaps this thread is doing the same thing - but at least I'm pointing out the obvious.

If you're gonna start a smoking thread, regardless of which team you are on, you are the person who becomes the whiny person, please stop blaming the other people for whiny.

It's a tough thing to go through, I was 14 when I dealt with it.

Most of my friends who smoke think I'm pretty tolerant of their habit. The worst anti-smoker in our group is the former smoker - she's a real ballbuster now about it

I share your recommendation to the moderators to create a special spot where DUers that chose can rail away on each other about smoking.

Smokers smoke. Non-smokers don't smoke.

Its clean air police vs personal liberties police.

Each smoking thread degrades into name calling and lots of bad vibes.

And when the smoke clears....smokers still smoke and non-smokers still (don't) smoke.

What have we accomplished on these smoky threads towards the BIGGER mission at DU - to promote our party's values and create positive change in this vast land of ours? And to bring about shift from this criminal, insane BushCo regime - to a better, saner, and safer world.

Tomorrow, next week, next year - the smoking threads will start the same and end the same. We all know how the movie ends! Just feels like a HUGE waste of emotion. Of course, thats just IMHO. We all have the right to determine which threads are a waste of time. Though the moderators can move them (or not)?

What WILL change is on January 3d, a new Congress will literally breath in fresh air and work to create positive change in a positive way! And we gotta rage against the machine that fuels this fucked up war of aggression in Iraq. I'll look for threads like that.
