Swift Boat financier was primary source behind anti-Hatch ads
http://www.examiner.com/a-465571~Swift_Boat_financier_was_primary_source_behind_anti_Hatch_ads.html

WASHINGTON - An independent group that ran ads criticizing Democratic gubernatorial candidate Mike Hatch was funded mainly by a Houston homebuilder who helped finance the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth against John Kerry in 2004, a recent filing with the Internal Revenue Service shows.

Bob Perry, owner of Perry Homes, contributed $500,000 to A Stronger America, whose Minnesota chapter spent about $750,000 on TV ads and direct mail. A spokesman for the chapter, known as A Stronger America-Minnesota, confirmed that all of the money donated by Perry was spent on the Minnesota effort.

During the campaign between Hatch and GOP Gov. Tim Pawlenty, a mailing by A Stronger America-Minnesota accused Hatch of "a 20 year pattern of intimidation, arrogance and abuse of power," and TV ads said he was under investigation for "influence peddling," and that he supported tax increases. Hatch, who said the claims against him were off-base, lost last month's race to Pawlenty.

2. Public financing of campaigns must be on the agenda for Democrats in 2007.
We gave McCain-Feingold its chance. Time to get serious. Clean Money, Clean Elections.

3. And Bobby Jack pops up again
And to think that I have known him for over 30 years and I used to think that he was simply a bad joke.

I knew him when he was nothing.

5. He's a serious enemy of democracy now.
He has been screwing us up down here for a long time. He has definitely been getting his money's worth too.

6. And I'm sure that Perry, as a Texas homebuilder, doesn't hire and exploit
illegal immigrants.

Nah, he wouldn't do that.

:sarcasm:

Where's a good investigative reporter when you need one?

7. heheh....good luck. A huge media like this and we have less than a handful of
solid investigative reporters. We have thousands of propagandists spinning for their corporate media masters, though.
