So Pickles has skin cancer - BFD
Hey Laura, there are a lot of people in Iraq who have suffered horrible burns from the bombs your husband's war has launched in their country, and I bet their skin hurts worse than yours.

Then there are the dead people who have died in your spouse's war. They don't have any skin.

There are also hundreds of thousands of children who have no parents anymore because of the folly of this war that man you married started.

But we all had to stop today to feel sorry for you and your episode of skin cancer.

I was thinking the polite thing to do would be to send you a card. But I am not in a polite mood, so here goes -> FUCK OFF PICKLES.

Oh and Happy Holidays too.

1. Green tea
http://www.umm.edu/altmed/ConsConditions/CancerSkincc.html

Green tea (Camellia sinensis) contains polyphenols, compounds that are potent antioxidants. Antioxidants eliminate free radicals, harmful by-products of cells' metabolism that are thought to play a role in cancer. The main polyphenol in green tea is epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG). Scientific studies suggest that EGCG and green tea polyphenols may prevent the onset and growth of skin tumors.

42. People die from never-never-land non-treatments. Fucking luddite hippies.
If living is your goal, maximize your chances by getting the best that scientific medical technology, and your wallet, can provide.

We now return you to your regularly-scheduled uneducated unscientific hippie mob.

4. 10,710 skin cancer deaths per year in the U.S.
Yes, skin cancer is often treatable, but it is still cancer and people still die from it. As someone who is genetic predisposed to skin cancer, I think educating people is vital. I have a lot of nasty things I would love to say about your post. I'll pass-- Happy Holidays to you too.

6. I Lost My Father...
...to osteogenic sarcoma when he was only 53 years old. My mother has had three bouts with skin cancer. Both of my grandfathers died of cancer: one prostate, the other bladder.

I also have a brother who is over in Baghdad fighting AWOL's war for oil.

I think that the original post was awesome, and I say this as someone who is a genetic absolute for cancer. You cannot imagine what it is like having a soldier over there. It is every bit as bad as losing my Dad, in some ways.

Pickles has cancer? Big deal. She's a killer and her husband is, too. Couldn't have happened to a nicer person, if you ask me.

14. Nope, won't wish cancer on people
I also lost my father and grandfathers to cancer. My uncle, mom, and I all have had skin cancer removed. None of knew to wear sunscreen until the damage was done. If someone, regardless of their political party, goes to the doctor to check a mole or remembers to stay out of the sun because of the this little news cycle, then good.

I simply refuse to be the type of person who would wish cancer on another. I dislike Laura Bush, but there is no benefit to society to wish others pain.

I'm sending my warmest thoughts to your brother. I don't believe in this war, but I thank him for his service to our country. May peace be with him.

I just cannot muster up anything remotely resembling sympathy for the b**ch.

Thanks for your warm thoughts for my brother. This time of year has just been hell on him. Our troops are suffering so much, and all you hear about in the news is garbage about Crashy McNoStop's skin cancer. What about those who had their limbs blown off today by IEDs? What about those who were killed? How many Iraqi children were killed today?

5. Most skin cancers are pretty benign
and involve little more than a very minor surgical procedure. I know a 93 year old lady who just had one removed, and it was nothing. Laura's probably having less trouble with this than Georgie had with that gigantic boil on the side of his face that he was sporting during the 2000 recount.

I will retract this statement if it turns out to be a melanoma that wasn't caught in time. Otherwise, I'm going to be a heartless bastard about this.

10. No apologist for the bushit clan but..........
she did not announce it. It only came to light when a reporter asked about the bandage on her leg. I would think that if they were trying to get sympathy they could have played it up big time. The fact that her husband has caused the death of thousands has no direct correlation on the fact she developed cancer.

with this "private" matter. I've had hundreds of these little buggars removed in the past 30 years. As First Lady, she should have used this as an Awareness moment, but, then again, she is a Bush. Sad.

She'll be fine, but she could have reached thousands more who may not be? Am I asking too much from my First Lady??

53. Yes, why didn't she do a public service announcement?
She could have recited some skin cancer statistics & suggested people get stuff checked out. Melanoma can be quite dangerous; early diagnosis & treatment are essential. And the "other" skin cancers get nasty if neglected.

The Press Secretary was offended that anyone was interested, stressing that Laura's "a private citizen." Quite a few private citizens don't have health insurance & might hesitate to see a doctor about a weird spot on their skin. Or maybe their HMO's make it harder to see specialists--like Dermatologists. Laura had no problem getting the best treatment, immediately.

some skin cancers are nasty, spread, kill you. What she had would eventually get nasty, but if removed, as it was, then it is just gone. No problem. No metastasis, no problems. You usually only die from this kind if you do not have it removed. She did.

40. Untreated melanoma kills
That's not what she had, apparently.

What she had, if caught in time, means a minor surgical procedure.

Logic check here, folks. No one on DU has the power to bring on cancer in Republicans or anyone else.

Saying "I don't feel sorry for her" is NOT--repeat, NOT the same thing as "wishing it on her."

I don't feel sorry at all when mildly unpleasant things--or even fairly unpleasant things--happen to people who have wrought untold misery on the world. I don't even feel bad when really bad things happen to truly evil people--I didn't shed a lot of tears when I heard that Pinochet had died.

So why the f**k are we supposed to wail and moan and gnash our teeth when this enabler of the sociopath-in-chief has to have minor surgery? Why are so many people carrying on as if she had the equivalent of a double-radical mastectomy and 6 months of intense chemo that left her bald and sick and with only a 15% 5-year survival rate? She had a frickin' growth removed.

But the sort of skin cancer she has isn't a tragedy. It can be treated, and people almost always recover. My mother has had a related condition, rodent ulcer, several times, and she's fine. It's melanoma that people can die from; and even that is usually not fatal if it's treated early.

I hope and expect that she'll be fine!
