6. Watching the CNN special live from here in Beaumont.
Vidor's problem is that they've never addressed their past, and prefer to just say "It's in the past," without saying what "it" is.

9. I spent a lot of time in Chance-Loeb (Lumberton) in the 50s
Vidor had NOTHING on that place back then.

I still have family in Beaumont and we used to get really high back in the 60s and go hang around with the idiots in Vidor. I was one of the few people in SE Teaxas with long hair and was in all kinds of fights with those rubes.

Man, that was one awful place.

12. This is the real problem with racism. OVERT racism is easier
to deal with than the sneaky "hidden" racism.

The "some of mah best friends are,..." types are just paying lipservice to integration and civil rights. In their hearts they are racist, but are somewhat shamed into hiding it, but when they hire people, or work with people it comes out in devious ways that are hard to prove.

A sign that says "Whites only" pretty mucj lays it out there for all to see but when someone tells a person "the job is filled"..it's just as bad..maybe worse..

17. the people who preface things with "i'm not a racist but...."
"i wish they would go back where they came from" or the infamous quote from some "non racist" "racism is dead. what will the ni**ers complain about now?"

**rufus, is that the quote?**
