On the subject of war with Iran and US policy in the MidEast
A great many posts I have read lately suggest that we (the US) are going to pull a false-flag operation as a pre-text for war with Iran and suddenly go to war with them.

While I do not discount the possibility of such an action, I do certainly discount the likelihood of such an action. While there is no lack of perceived motives for such a war, there is a serious amount of cognitive dissonance involved.

While I know most of you think no action too insane for even Bush, I think his handlers have a tight enough leash on him to stop him from marching to war with Iran.

"But Xen -- the PNAC agenda calls for it!!!"

Yes, but the PNAC agenda also called for us to swiftly move in and take out Iraq in a short amount of time. So far no such victory has occurred and is unlikely to occur.

The Generals and most of the PNAC-a-teers know that we cannot win against Iran in the present shape we are in. We need a *much* larger military, on par with what we used in WWII to even attempt to fight the war we would be in for. Granted Bush has called for a larger military, but we will see how that works out.. *cough*DRAFT*cough* ...given how low standard recruitment is right now.

Public opinion is also against Bush, his administration and against the War. I doubt even a false flag operation will motivate the masses to war.

Instead of war with Iran, I present to you my version of the events that are about to come to pass....

Bush will follow the ISG's recommendations. The Administration and US as a whole is going to shift policy, following the guidelines of the ISG, and begin to withdraw support for Israel. The US will work with Syria and Iran to stabilize Iraq, the overall outcome being a sacrifice of Israel for peace with the Middle East and fundamentalist Islam.

In the United States, to fix the GOPs flagging reputation and poll numbers, also to legitimize the sacrifice of Israel, it will be revealed that "zionist infiltrators" were responsible for the war with Iraq, by providing false intelligence. These same zionists will also be the scapegoats used for why the GOP has corruption (Jack Abramhoff etc.); the economy is also bad, so I expect the old "the banks are run by the Jews" meme to be used as well. Also, the publics faith in the media is at a near all-time low, so I would bet on "zionist" agents involved there as well.

Within two years or so, zionist and jew will be interchangeable (as they are now among racists) in active political speaking and common media. This will be enough for the GOP to rally enough support to get their people into place in 2008. As an alternative to going through the motions of elections in '08, it may be that if the people respond well to the zionist infiltration meme, it will be used to purge the political parties and no doubt leave the Democrats looking worse than the Republicans. (I am not saying anything by this other than the Republicans run the media) And it could even lead to enough "zionist infiltration" for George to pass his own version of the Enabling Act and seize power until the zionist influences purged from the country.

I realize my predictions are dire and no doubt sound to most of you like a silly notion that could never happen, however it has already happened in other nations, it is a repeated pattern throughout history.

1. What the heck does Iraq have to do with Israel?
Sounds like a bit of paranoid fixation there.

3. Well if you ever go to..
an anti-War rally run by ANSWER, you will meet more than enough speakers who will tell you that the War in Iraq was fought on behalf of Israel. I have seen the same meme repeated here on DU.

from Common Dreams: http://www.commondreams.org/headlines02/1010-02.htm
WASHINGTON - Of the major religious groups in the United States, evangelical Christians are the biggest backers of Israel and Washington's planned war against Iraq, says a new survey released here Wednesday by a politically potent group of fundamentalist Christians and Jews.

Al Jazeera: http://www.aljazeera.com/cgi-bin/conspiracy_theory/fullstory.asp?id=207

And look through this list for others: http://www.google.com/search?q=Iraq+War+reasons+Israel&hl=en&lr=&start=10&sa=N

It is not paranoid fixation on my part my friend, that fixation was there long before I posted this.

2. "withdraw support for Israel" ....
AINT gonna happen ....

The Neocons still rule the roost, and they are primarily Likudniks, IE STRONG supporters of Israel ....

There is no push to withdraw support of Israel, which is unpalatable to most christian americans of EVERY political stripe ....

AINT gonna happen ...

4. What evidence is there...
that the Neocons have such loyalty to Israel? The only loyalty I see in them is to their own personal power.

There is no push to withdraw support of Israel, which is unpalatable to most christian americans of EVERY political stripe ....
Not at the moment, but Mr. Baker of the ISG has made such suggestions in the past and is making anti-Israel rumblings once again, by liking the Iraq War with Israel.
