With some considerable regret
Well, folks, I guess it's about that time. As much as I really hate to do it, I'm just getting too busy to spend much time at DU while I have so many other projects I need to do. I have only so much energy and find that I'm being spurred by some internal motivator to not only put more work into my novels, but to revisit the role-playing game system that spawned them in the first place. I'm also going to be working and doing home improvement projects around the house as well.

I'm starting to hit the point where I don't have anything new to offer in the way of political essays anyway. I'm afraid I'm going to start rehashing old points and there's really not much of a purpose to that. So maybe it's time I stepped back and put my mental energy into other things for a while, hopefully getting the chance to resume my postings here once I have revitalized my consciousness and will by reclaiming something I once loved and eventually burnt out on.

It's probably about time for me to take a break, all things considered. DU has gotten a little rough of late in many respects and, given that I have actually, for the first time, put another member on ignore, it may be time for me to distance myself from a source of aggravation I don't need.

I'll still be reading DU to keep up on what's going on, but I doubt I'll be doing a lot of posting, particularly of the original pieces for which I've become known. I'm shifting mental gears and it doesn't look like I'll be able to do everything I need to do, in terms of writing, without putting some things in perspective.

In my opinion some of my more recent pieces have fallen short of the excellence I've come to expect from myself anyway. So it's most likely best I expend that energy elsewhere to give myself some time to rejuvenate mentally.

I ask folks to keep this thread kicked for a while, and even recommend it if you see fit. I'll respond to things posted to this thread for at least the next few days just out of courtesy. And remember that if you ever want to contact me outside of DU, it's simply a matter of visiting my website and dropping me an email from the link provided there.

http://www.sajewilliams.com

I'd consider it an honor to have members of my DU family drop by every so often and send me a hello.

In the meantime, I'd like to wish everyone a great holiday season and all the warm wishes and fond hopes I have to spare. May the new year bring you everything you can imagine you want and may the worst of what is to come be as fulfilling as the best of what has passed.

With love and respect,

Saje Williams

2. Saje, I hear you
D.U. has kept me sane since the theft of 2000. inevitably, D.U. has changed over the years and since the 06 elections, it seems that, rather than visiting this site for hope and commiseration, it seems sort of like listening to the drive time NPR program, "how much more miserable could any human being possibly be?". Yeah, I know life is a bitch and the people who run the show are crooks and liars. Reading about it all day, every day, doesn't make it better, it just makes me more angry. What's the point?

I have enjoyed your input and hope that you occasionally stop by. You have proved to be an asset to D.U. and I, personally, will miss you.

Peace
Buddy Gill

3. Oh heck Mythsaje, go smoke a dubbie
kick back a little even though it's early in the morning, get your head screwed back on straight and everything will be the better for it. But I do have a question if I may. What is that going to do to make DU better anyway, walking away?
OH, on them home projects, if you are like me about the time one thing is finished another is ready to begin, how do I know that, Wife tells me.

In all honesty though, good luck, you will be missed here. I enjoy your perspective, sometimes I'll go back and reread what you're saying just to make sure I read it right the first time

OH and don't forget you can always go home when you can't go anywhere else

10. Oh, I'm not sure my leaving would improve DU at all
but it might improve my state of mind to do so for a while. I just have too many balls in the air right now and the last thing I want to do is to rehash the same subjects over and over again here because I'm too preoccupied with other projects.

I go through periodic readjustments like this, where my mind focuses on a few specific areas and others are shifted into the background. This appears to be one of those times. I just don't ahve anything new or all that interesting to contribute right now and I'd rather take a break than to keep pounding the same message again and again and again.

Especially true if you consider the kinds of things that are surfacing here at DU on a regular basis at the moment. I have no particular preference for who our 2008 Presidential candidate may be. I think nearly everyone brings something unique to the table, and it's still a long way off before we'll be called upon to make that choice. I don't particularly like or trust Hillary Clinton, for a variety of reasons, but I've found that others have already made that case ad nauseum on my behalf. I have nothing new to add. And personally I'm sick of being accused, however obliquely, of being a sexist because I consider her, specifically, the wrong woman for the job.

I'm tired of smoking threads. Again, they get far too repetitious. If people want to bash people with an addiction, they can have at it. Maybe they need to remove the plank from their own eye before they go inspecting the eyes of their fellow humans.

I need a break before I descend into nastiness.

7. Always good to take a break - especially at this time of year.
2007 will be a very exciting one and hope to see you back in the swing then. This Nov/Dec, this period of time since the election is but the lull before the storm.

See you in January when the Congress and the Libby trial kick into gear. :hi:

9. I've had to do the same and am much the better for it
Online activity can easily become addictive -- from one who knows first hand. The world we live in is so screwed up and mostly we feel impotent to do much of anything about it. Best to you and your creative pursuits whatever they may be.
