Would another terror attack make you support a draft? |

1. A terror attack is not the same as an invasion force |
|
I would be willing to debate the issue of a draft if you could prove to me somebody has a 40,000,000 man army at the border waiting to invade.

3. No. The two not related. It may well make me pack a lot of sox and march on D.C. |
|
Picking up as many people as I could convince to join me on the long walk.
I support a draft for a different reason: Rich men should stop the evil alchemy of turning the blood of the poor into gold. If their own progeny were on the line, there may be less chance of wars of convenience.

A draft implies the creation of a large, conscription army.
Now, what are we going to use that army for? What, exactly, are we to defend - and how? Or, are we going to attack somebody? If so, who? And with what goals?
I'm not sure how we could stop terror attacks, but flailing about invading whoever is handy (and has oil...) seems like a badly flawed strategy.
Let's suppose we snap our fingers and have a 10,000,000 man (and woman) army, all armed, trained, and ready to fight. What now?
Until I can get a good answer to the "what now", how can I support a draft?

8. no, never, volunteer to die, but otherwise, its state russian roulette |
|
Why should a slave die for an evil master? I don't support the draft, ever. If a slave loves the people and wishes to defend them, then the person will volunteer to fight in wars of defense, but such a person is unfindable when the wars are for profit, hence the need for a draft to enslave to evil masters.
Slavery ended over 100 years ago, or so they say, ha! Everyone wants to be a slave, those borg are so cool.

.... is a criminal, and not military, activity.
Terror will NEVER be solved by the military, no matter how many men, how many bombs, how many deaths.
In fact, anyone with 2 brain cells to rub together knows that our little adventure in Iraq just created thousands, perhaps tens of thousands of new terrorists.

Terrorists are criminals and we should work with the intelligence services of allies to hunt them down and bring them to trial.

is the 'new' congress. will they have the intestinal fortitude to stand against another mindless mob screaming for revenge against whatever 'villain' the administration tosses their way?

I do believe that the 9/11 attack was orchestrated or at least tolerated by the Bush administration. I would not put it past him/them to allow another one just to prove a point.

17. ABSOLUTELY NOT! It would inspire me to CUT Military Budget IN HALF! |
|
A terrorist attack is a police problem. NOT. A. MILITARY. PROBLEM.
9/11 was CLEARLY used to feed the military-industrial complex BEAST, and to MANUFACTURE a WAR. Another terrorist attack would prompt another demagogue like Bush to start another unnecessary and heinous war--an excuse for use of our military for corporate resource wars. Bush's war has made us hated around the world.
No. No. And NO! Never again!
CUT the military budget--and use resources for improved security--REAL security--and for the promotion of peace, diplomacy and justice around the world. Get everybody off oil and into alternative, non-polluting energy. Work for global disarmament, especially nuke disarmament (what utter madness it is!). Our bloated military budget is standing temptation to fascists, to wage aggressive war, and a provocation. Cut it back to a true defensive posture (I'd say by about 90%). No more wars of choice!
