Was receiving reports all the way back to 1994 suggesting attacks on the USA by Islamic terrorists using commercial airlines. In 1995, the FBI actually interviewed flight school students from the ME but couldn't come up with any actual evidence of wrongdoing. In order for this to be a conspiracy, you'd have to believe that two US Presidents, the CIA, FBI and foreign intelligence services were all in on the plot and allowed it to happen.

I'm not buying it. Until the planes were hijacked, the only crimes actually committed were visa violations.

The World Trade Center was a ill-conceived project from start to finish - way over budget with a mountain of office space virtually unsellable at the time to the private sector. The WTC turned into a monument to meaningless capitalism, and excess for excess sake, where money-changers met to lord their wealth over the heads of the hapless rabble living below and beyond. That is what the new tower will represent also. There is already a memorial to the dead at the site of the terrorism. This project is essentially an monument to the money driven imperialism that our detractors accuse our country of.

I also think the new tower will be a target for every expression of resistance to U.S. expansionism abroad. Just another provocation. Another chip on our shoulder. On New York's shoulder.
