Sam Brownback is a very strange man

In a visit to Davenport, IA yesterday, he said that still wants a judicial nominee to answer questions about her attendance at a commitment ceremony for a lesbian couple, even though he has since dropped the hold on her nomination. It seems that he put a hold on a nominee named Janet Neff due in part to the fact she attended a same sex commitment ceremony. Ms. Neff has stated that one of the women was the daughter of a friend. The incident occured four years ago.
So what is wrong with Brownback and others like him? Why shouldn't Ms. Neff or anyone else be able to attend a ceremony in which two people are stating their love for each other? Especially when one of the parties is a life long friend. We do not need Brownback or anyone else like him for president. For info on this story go to www.qctimes.net and click on local news. we demand why he thinks he should be able to question a person's private comings and goings. As long as a person is not threatening people where they go and what they do is none of his business. If I lived in his state I would constantly send him letters demanding where he goes and what he does while he is there.

Nor is he inclined to visit with constituents. Trust me, I've tried. I've sent him letters, I've called his office, I've even gone to Topeka and sat outside his office but no response. I've even tried to get in with small groups and nada. He's worse than Jim Ryun, who was recently lost his re-election bid to Nancy Boyda despite Bush and Cheney coming here to give him a boost.

I think he got in because of family connections. Nothing ever came out of it except some empty promise to get back to him. My friend wasn't a voter, he wasn't even registered, so there was no reason for Brownback to talk to him.

She writes him a blast about once every other month, and he always answers promptly. They're such frequent correspondents that his letters, which used to be signed "Sam Brownback" are now just "Sam". I think he enjoys toying with her, since his responses are always right-wing bullshit that make her blood pressure skyrocket.

She writes to Roberts about as frequently and he's answered exactly once.

Interesting that Brownback now wants to question who judicial nominees associate with in their private time - wasn't guilt by association a favorite tactic of Jos. McCarthy? Brownback is such a humiliating cross for Kansas to bear.

Roberts answers my mail and I've had several meetings with his staff. His office also return phone calls. I also get unsolicited mail from Roberts. At least I keep up with what little he does.

His decision to block the nominee has raised constitutional issues:
