New CNN poll good news for dems in '08
McCain must be losing his appeal to a certain degree.

Gore would beat McCain 47-46
HIllary is tied 47-47
Obama who is less well known than McCain, is close, 43-47 for McCain.

Romney gets beat by all three:
Gore beats Romney 53-37
Hillary beats Romney 57-34
Obama beats Romney 51-35

Guiliani and Gore are tied 46-46
Clinton beats Guiliani 48-45
Guiliani is ahead of Obama 49-42

Overall the two toughest GOP candidates, McCain and Guiliani don't seem all that invincible in this poll even against a less well known democrat like Obama.

1. No poll is worth spit two years in advance.
So far it's all name recognition.

Which means it's crap.

And McCain never tops 47%.

Of the Big 3 in name recog--Gore, Clinton & McCain, both Gore & Clinton have been subjected to prolonged RW Swiftboating & general derision in the media. Hitlery, Invented the Internet, etc.

McCain was only briefly subjected to that kind of attack, back in the 2000 primary season, when KKKarl put out a bunch of egregious nonsense about him.

I think McCain is as high as he can go right now, and it will be downhill for him all the way to 2008 as the public gets to know him better. Besides, he's too goddamn old.

In contrast, as Al and Hill get more exposure, their stock will rise across time. I particularly sense that this is true for Gore, although I couldn't articulate any solid reasons why I think this.
