Woman complains about quality of crack, arrested

A Fayetteville, N.C. woman was arrested late Friday after complaining to a Putnam County sheriff’s deputy about the quality of crack cocaine she just purchased, according to the sheriff’s office.

Deputy Jeffrey Pedrick was working a call at a convenience store at the corner of State Road 20 and State Road 21 in Hawthorne when he was approached by Eloise D. Reaves, 50. She told Pedrick that another man in the parking lot had sold her “bad crack.”

She then pulled an alleged crack rock out of her mouth and placed it on the trunk of the deputy’s car for his inspection, saying that it was not crack but wax and cocaine.

Pedrick informed Reaves that if the crack tested positive for cocaine she would be arrested, then performed a field test which came up positive for cocaine.
