David Delp thrown out at Clinton's Impeachment Hearing Updated
Edited on Wed Feb-01-06 01:35 PM by Pryderi
Update at 9:42 a.m. ET: Matt Drudge's Drudge Report is reminding his readers of a man who was removed from Senate gallery during President Clinton's impeachment trial for wearing an anti-Clinton shirt.

Update at 10:15 a.m. ET: The last four paragraphs of Drudge's item at the moment come directly from a New York Daily News brief by Thomas M. DeFrank, writing in February 1999, shortly after the man's removal. The only paragraph of DeFrank's story that Drudge leaves out is the last one: "Capitol police declined to comment."

1. He was not arrested, nor handcuffed
his shirt absolutely insulted clinton... Something about blowing...

Cindy's shirt had the number of dead and asks the question when will it end?

Can't compare apples to oranges, but they try....

11. Since that is up for debate, its not really the issue.
Edited on Wed Feb-01-06 01:38 PM by rpgamerd00d
Case 1: Delp
Clintons Impeachment (not SOTU), wears shirt w/ political statement. Removed, NOT ARRESTED.

Case 2: Young's wife
Bush SOTU 2006, wears shirt w/ political statement. Removed, NOT ARRESTED.

Case 3: Cindy Sheehan
Bush SOTU 2006, wears shirt w/ political statement. Removed, ARRESTED.

The issue has nothing to do with the Shirt. That part is CONSISTANT IN ALL CASES.
The INCONSISTANCY IS THE ARREST.

The ARREST is ILLEGAL.

15. But the punishment did not
both should be punished the same--actually not at all, either shirt was not a "controversial" shirt in my eyes....But if you arrest one for the same thing, you must arrest the other and that is where the lawsuit will be handy, Cindy was singled out for more punishment....

2. Why not the Congressman's wife?
I'm not going to stop asking that question until those criticizing Cindy answer it.

13. Beverly Young
"Beverly Young, wife of Rep. C.W. Bill Young of Florida chairman of the House Defense Appropriations subcommittee was removed from the gallery because she was wearing a T-shirt that read, "Support the Troops Defending Our Freedom."

She was sitting about six rows from first lady Laura Bush and asked to leave. She argued with police in the hallway outside the House chamber.

"They said I was protesting," she told the St. Petersburg Times. "I said, "Read my shirt, it is not a protest.' They said, 'We consider that a protest.' I said, 'Then you are an idiot.'"

She called the security guards idiots, yet she wasn't arrested.

10. I truly believe that story is BOGUS.
Fox News would have had a satellite truck outside Rep. Young's house, Sean Hannity would be doing live remote, and and Mrs. Young would have been interviewed by Katie "You Can't Blame The Media" Couric.

4. He was Santorum's guest & he got a souvenir photo
In the early days of the Senate's impeachment trial of President Bill Clinton in January 1999, a Pennsylvania man named Dave Delp was removed by the Capitol police from the Senate gallery for wearing a t-shirt that said, "Clinton doesn't inhale, he sucks."

***

"Even after establishing that Delp was a guest of Sen. Rick Santorum (R-Pa.), the guards wouldn't let him back in and escorted him to a basement security area, where they questioned and photographed him.

After being given one of the photos as a souvenir, Delp said he was banned from the Capitol for the rest of the day. "They were polite and professional," Delp added, "but they really did scare me. I think I should have been given the chance to cover up."

from Druge, I respectfully decline to give a link because it is Drudge.

6. The photo technically counts as a bribe
"Here, have this photo to make you happy and not sue us."

14. LOL, Drudge is just sooooooo eager, isn't he!
None of what he is talking about relates to Cindy, what happened to her or even the circumstances surrounding each of them but, as usual, Drudge doesn't care, he has his Rovian talking points and that's all that counts.
