Granny Bee – Merry Solstice
Listen to your granny!

Granny Bee is now regularly featured on the
Jeff Alan Wolf Show on ZTLK.com and RadioPower.org

Granny Bee

11/20/06 – Merry Solstice (2:00) Real .mp3

Granny asks, "Why should we let anyone make this a divisive time of year, when for many, many thousands of years it has been a time of togetherness and understanding?"

1. Is that just to avoid "Merry Christmas"?
Well, "Merry Christmas" to all of you.

And if Christmas holds no meaning for you, then just enjoy the day off.

Except for those providing critical services: Police, Fire, Nurses, Party-store employees. I salute you.

2. Well we celebrate the winter's solstice
and don't get a day off for that....Today is our big day.
But Merry Christmas to you.

4. Doh! I completely forgot it's the 20th (or 21st)
And it seems like just yesterday was the Autumnal Equinox

Ok, Happy Solstice, folks!

Not everything has to revolve around Christmas. (But everything *does* have to revolve around the sun... ba-dump-bump...)

People have been noting the solstice much longer than they've been celebrating Christmas!

6. Enough! No Mas! I surrender!
Apologies for not "getting" the solstice. You're right, I didn't listen to Granny, MP3 files are blocked where I work.

I have atoned by draining the last of a 12-pack last night (around 7:22 PM EST), then arranging the bottles in a circle in my back yard, named it "Rolling-Rock-Henge", and am waiting for the sunrise to illuminate the colored glass.

But I refuse to dance naked outside at the Winter Solstice. Not at this latitude. That's strictly a Summer thing. "Togetherness" has its limits.

Regards.
