1. I'm hunkered down at home base, just hoping the power stays on
This thing could get bad if people start losing their heat.

5. Are you guys getting the front end of the storm
that's over southern Alaska right now? It's a biggie ... looks like a hurricane on the weather map, 944 millibars last night. It's snowing pretty steadily here in Anchorage right now, but south and east of us, I hear it's really bad with much snow and 70 mph winds.

10. 944 millibars?!
Shit, that is a hurricane. A snow hurricane maybe but that is an awfully low atmospheric pressure reading. Is that even normal for that region?

I'd like to see the map, where can I link to one?

19. Wow, I would love to see a radar image of this...
Earlier this spring we had a strong gale come through our area and it looked so much like a hurricane even the weather man was freaked about it.

This blizzard that is over Alaska right now makes me think of "The Day After Tommorrow."

at this link http://www.ktuu.com/ you can watch this morning's forecast which has a great radar shot of the storm. It's impressive.

6. I can't take it anymore!
These four walls! My dog thinks he can trick me into falling asleep so he can eat me, but I'm smarter than him! I'll only pretend to sleep and then when he comes for me BLAM! I'll give him both barrels! That'll show him who's boss around here and who's eating who! All I need now is a shotgun and some shells. Snnrkxx. Did I fall asleep? I'll just *pretend* to be sleeping. I'll never tell him where I hid my goods. That'd be a pretty picture woudn't it? Letting that miserable cur get away with his goods and my goods too? Oh! These walls! and the snow! The white, white snow! Everywhere! White, white snow . . .

8. But I can't.
You see, I hid my goods in the coffee tin.

Damn!

We have about a foot now at my house west of Denver. Everything (schools, businesses, etc.) seems to be shut down. No power problems so far.

My dog (whom I would never shoot) is a Siberian Husky. I walked him to the park about an hour ago. He was in absolute heaven! He just loves the snow. Wants to run and run and run. I wish I could keep up with him.

We have a really huge memorable storm about once a decade, including a mega-blizzard at Christmas in 1982. Usually, I've had a houseful of company when they hit and we had a blast being snowed in. This time, it's just my buddy dog and me. I'm off to the kitchen do some more baking!

Back at the "undersnow" cabin for one last time, Mr. Burns and Homer
are sitting and staring at each other, drifting into madness and
paranoia.

Homer to himself about Burns: Hmm. Look at his eyes. He's trying to hypnotize me, but not in the
good Las Vegas way.

Finally, Burns suspects Homer is trying to bump him off. He grabs a a
fireplace poker and arms himself, thinking "He can't kill me if I kill
him first!"

Burns: I'll kill you, you bloated museum of treachery!
Homer: You and what army?

Stand back! I have powers!
Political powers!
Burns: *imagines Mao Tse Tsung, Abe Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt and
Mahatma Gandhi behind Homer* Uuh!

:hi: Stay warm and safe.

12. DON'T try this at home kids.... I'm a trained idiot
Had to get "supplies" cause they're saying this will go for another 24 hours. So... I ventured out. Have I ever mentioned that I don't own a 4-Wheel Drive?

This is a GOOD street.....

Watched some mo-fo plow into a car (mo-fo was going way too fast in his SUV :eyes: . Cars stuck everywhere)

I got the F'Mobile in front of the house. Sorta kinda. But, I made it back with the "supplies".

:bounce:

Do you have front-wheel drive at least? I don't think they even sell cars up here with less than front-wheel.

17. Have front wheel with lots of weight on the rear
But I'm stuck at a weird angle in front of our house. We live on a slight incline... made a run for it and spun around. Hope none of my neighbors smash into me :P ... but I don't think that anything other than a snowmobile can make it up our street right now.

... and where we live "snow removal" is done by the Sun. :eyes: Have plenty of food.. will sit by the fire.. relax...I'm going to bake some goodies later... just hope the power doesn't go out.

:hi:

14. After spending three months in Boulder ...
I would love to wake up to a foot of snow on the Flatirons, with wispy winter fog wafting through the gaps .... I love that place ....

I guess visiting it would be better than living in it ....

I'll keep that in mind ...

23. Thanks from Fort Collins
Some people at my company have to drive in from as far as Greeley, so we got unpaid amnesty if we needed to leave. I got on that train, and it was the best decision I've made in weeks. It's been snowing non-stop for at least ten hours, with 30+ mph winds. The streets are impassable without four-wheel drive, and the snow isn't packing, just pouring down in wet drifts and whipping around in sheets. It's so bad CSU closed for the day, which is nearly unheard of.

Gonna try to hunt some snowbunnies in the lobby later.

;-)

CORRECTION: Lost the satellite channels, though. Satellite dish on the roof for cable tv must be the one I see under snow. No Countdown with Keith Olbermann?? This blows!!

29. Safe & Warm, But My Son Stuck in Chicago
possibly until Sunday.

I'm hoping some old folks (like me) will call their kids in Colorado and the kids will say, Dad/Mom - you might want to stay put - highways are a mess, nothing is open, Colorado has been declared a State of Emergency....and my boy will get on a standby flight.
