T-Shirts Get Women Kicked Out of State of the Union
Cindy Sheehan Arrested; Wife of GOP Congressman Asked to Leave

(story follows)

Poll

What do you think about Cindy Sheehan's arrest?
I agree with it 58%
I oppose it 37%
Not sure 5%

Should Beverly Young have been kicked out for her pro-troop t-shirt?
No 51%
Yes 41%
Not sure 8%
Total Votes: 152,526

So evidently people want the right to speak freely, as long it's a message they approve.

2. Why the double standard?
Granted rules are rules and IF these women were in violation of the rules then they should have received equal treatment under the law. Clearly that was not the case last night. Why was Cindy Sheehan arrested and this other woman allowed to run free through the streets of Washington wearing a T shirt with a slogan? Clearly there was a Double (or Dubya?) standard!

15. No matter how you look at it Cindy wins.
l. Cindy's arrest vs. the Rep. wife not being arrested is a double standard.
2. Cindy's arrest has taken away from the Repub. talking points and the State of the Union.
3. Cindy's cause gets more publicity.

3. i was just going to ask a question that your poll post touches on
was Ms. young as vilified and swiftboated in the press for her equally inappropriate attire?

4. hehe
yeah, right.
I'm sure she's a hero to the right. But, sadly NOT for standing up in support of the freedom of speech. But standing up for war.

5. Where are the photos of Young's wife?
Firstly, what representative's wife goes to the SOTU address in a
T-shirt? It's a dressy affair; men in suits, women equally well-turned-out.

We know that Cindy's decision to attend was a last-minute one -- I'm assuming that Ms. Young has been planning to attend for MONTHS, and would have given a lot of thought to what she would wear.

If Ms. Young had her hair 'done', was wearing her 'good' jewelry, and was well-accessorized (matching shoes and purse, etc.), it will be OBVIOUS that she was asked to don the T-shirt at the last minute - and for obvious reasons.

SHOW US THE PHOTOS!

Do they know who gets tickets and who don't or is that a private thing?

11. Those results are mind-boggling. Totally inconsistent
I said I oppose the arrest, and that I think Ms Young should have been allwoed to stay.

16. Exactly...
They set these questions up to make it look like you're more for the Congressman's wife than for Cindy.

14. This is absolutely mind-boggling.
I voted "no" on both polls... I cant understand how someone who would claim to be for free speech would vote differently on both polls.

"Oh I'm all for freedom of speech... as long as it doesnt offend my party!"

:puke:

17. The poll "misled" them, mentally. You see, they see the questions as...
"Is being anti-Bush good?"
"Is being pro-American good?"

i.e. they voted based on whether they agree with the CONTENT of the T-SHIRTS, not on the merit of the actual arguement.

Once you realize this, the results make total sense.

19. Absolutely. It's not about free speech. It's about Bush.
And about a corporate media intent on framing our debates.

Should Cindy Sheehan have been kicked out for her pro-troop t-shirt?

These people are sick.
