Poll question: Cats in my yard
Its common knowledge that the domesticated cat is not common or natural to North America. That said, they could be harming the bird, chipmunk, and squirrel population. If you see a cat on your property do you feel like you should have the right to shoot it, since it is a nuisance to other forms of wildlife?

PS Dogs are not allowed to be left to their own devices like cats.

15. You "loved it" huh?
The idea/action of shooting stray cats was something you loved?

You deal with ALL of your problems by shooting them?

little boy. Answer me.

I know you see me, let's have it.

Honestly, though...it's okay to have a really small penis. It's all about how you deal with it.

3. There were cats in my yard
When I moved in.
The Raccoon ate them pretty quickly, though.
By the time I realized they were in danger all but one kitten had been digested.
He is living with my neighbor's gf now.

6. If someone's child came on your property, would you shoot them too?
Why don't you get a live animal trap if you really want the cats off your property? Just catch the cat, look at its tags and talk to the owner. If it has no tags, take it to a local no-kill shelter.

In my experience, most people who talk about shooting pets have other agendas besides protecting birds and chipmunks.

8. It depends. Is the child in question digging up my begonias?
Or chasing after my chipmunks?

I'd probably fire off a few warning shots first.

keep the varmint population down. We have bob cats, mountain lions, wolves, etc that should be roaming all over the continent, but now we don't. Since Felis Domesticus has taken hold here in the USA, its now a replacement vermin control predator.

13. What is your source ...
that cats are affecting wildlife ?

There seems to an endless supply of the critters you mention, as I find them on my back porch almost every day.

I think you will have an easier time convincing people that pet birds belong on a leash.

Cheers
Drifter

16. Are you one of these macho wannabes
who likes to brag about shooting cats to a group of little kids so you can watch them get all upset and laugh about it? BTW you are not "common or natural" to North America so what should I do if I see you on my property since you appear to be "a nuisance to other forms of wildlife"?

21. I vaguely recall a news story
Edited on Thu Dec-21-06 12:27 AM by quantessd
about some @$$h01e in Portland, OR, who captured neighborhood cats and took them to the pound, claiming that they were strays. The owners had no idea what happened to their pets, and many cats were euthanized, because their owners didn't get to the pound in time.

He was eventually caught, and he did get in some trouble (can't remember how much), but most likely the worst punishment was having an article written about him in The Oregonian, and being the object of scorn by all his neighbors and all cat lovers who happened to read the story.

23. Let's get rid of modern transportation.
I'm sick, I tell you, sick of seeing all the road kill in Ohio.

In fact, we should shoot any human that kills a deer with their vehicle.

It's common knowledge that automobiles are not common or natural to North America. That said, you should have the right to shoot it, since it is a nuisance to other forms of wildlife.

And, they wiped out a lot more natural wildlife than cats have.
