The Constitutional way of REMOVING BUSH (and Cheney) From Office, NOW.
It's obvious that Bush NEEDS to be removed from the White House, and before someone screams "It's impossible" Let's think about an angle here.

First, We need to utilize the law of the Constitution to REMOVE HIM. By reason of Insanity, Incapable of performing the Duty.

It's there, wisely, our founders DID forsee the possibility. BUT, we'll have to do some wheeling and dealing, and I think the RIGHT WINGERS are ready to do just that, or they will be screwed - Bush is killing the party, and you know that THEY KNOW IT.

Throw in the Joint Chiefs of Staff and it looks better all the time (rather than a silent coup, by the Military and James Baker, Bush Senior, etc)

First we'd have to threaten Cheney with massive lawsuits, Investigations, Maybe Plame, War Profiteering Act - pick ONE, to get him to step down as Veep, let's say for health reasons, more time with the family, whatever. Just GET OUT you fucking BORG.

Then A DEMOCRATIC Congress would have the ability (not to mention maybe a back room deal, with someone who WANTS to be president, a true conservative?), to vote FOR Cheney's replacement.

Part of the deal is to bring the troops back, deal with the funding, or NON Funding. REMOVE the Corporate influence, and once again let the MILITARY SUPPLY THE TROOPS from "Tooth to Tail." (As a Purchasing Agent in the US Air Force I know all about this stuff)

The law requires that the VEEP makes the call regarding BUSH being Bonkers, so Our Boy does his patriotic duty and calls for the REMOVAL of Bush, as the New Veep.

The New Veep moves into the White House, and is saddled with this war created by HIS party, a lame duck, and then the DEM Congress annoints another Veep, someone WE want in there, accepting nothing less, Part of the Original Deal to get Bush OUT.

IN this fashion we LEGALLY REMOVE BUSH and CHENEY, there is no actual Impeachment fatigue to be called out by the right or the Media, making noises like "The Public Won't Stand for Another Impeachment", and the RIGHT WINGERS NEED to back it, as they are in severe danger of losing all control of their party and the Govt.

The RUBBER STAMPING REPUBLICANS NOW need to send Bush to the Rubber ROOM.

I'm telling you, this will work, and the Public will get behind it, with the ratings Bush has going for him now, he IS insane. Remember, sanity is defined by Collusion of the Group, a lone NUT with father issues, narcissism, Sociopathic tendencies, meglomania, drug use, etc is NOT what we need right now at this juncture in history, or before, but with each new poll it's becomeing more OBVIOUS that Bush is Disturbed, Captain Queeg.

And just imagine the ratings the media would have while all this is going on.

REID, CONYERS, and anyone else reading the DU, THIS IS HOW WE DO IT. TELL THEM, Email them, call them, pass this along.

Sure, they KEEP the money, but that's how it always works when the right wing gets in and raids the treasury built up by the Democratic Presidents.

In case you haven't noticed, more and more people are calling a spade a spade re Bush - my own neighbor downstairs who didn't agree with Bush but was along for the ride told me today that HE THINKS BUSH IS NUTS. Good news, when Joe Sixpack PULLS YOU aside to let you know that, ain't it?

But we need to get this MEME OUT THERE, tell everyone you know that THERE IS A WAY, IF Congress swings a deal, and don't tell me that deals aren't made - if they can make corrupt deals, then they can make a deal for the SAFETY of our Country, and the Joint Chiefs of Staff have AMAZED ME with their call on this Surge, let alone the Media TELLING US about the Joint Chiefs, think about it, a tacit knod for a Coup by the Military, CONDONED BY THE CORPORATE PRESS?

LET'S DO IT. NOW.

May you live in interesting times, eh? :)

1. How long do you figure all this would take?
I'm thinking 2 years. I've gotta say I admire your enthusiasm, though.

2. Read the 25th Amendment
This is how such a scenario as I think you're trying to describe plays out:

Section 4. Whenever the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as Acting President.

Thereafter, when the President transmits to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives his written declaration that no inability exists, he shall resume the powers and duties of his office unless the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive department or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit within four days to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office. Thereupon Congress shall decide the issue, assembling within forty-eight hours for that purpose if not in session. If the Congress within twenty-one days after receipt of the latter written declaration, or, if Congress is not in session within twenty-one days after Congress is required to assemble, determines by two-thirds vote of both Houses that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall continue to discharge the same as Acting President; otherwise, the President shall resume the powers and duties of his office.

3. well
Congress doesn't pick the new VP - the President does, with the approval of the congress.

Also, the VP can't just declare the President unfit.

8. Actually that is exactly what the VP can do.

10. How odd
you tell me the VP can declare a president unfit, then quote me text that says something entirely different.

It takes the VP and a majority of the cabinet.

11. " or of such other body as Congress may by law provide"
Perhaps you stopped short of reading the entire sentence?

12. well
Congress has by law provided that it be the cabinet.

Nonetheless, the point remains that the Vice President cannot just declare a President unfit.

4. While it would be nice, what you're talking about is a coup...
and we don't want to set that precedent.

9. Yes much better to just let him keep the slaughter going.
We wouldn't want any of the mess over in our house, so we will just keep breaking all the china in the Iraqi's house.

5. I agree that its the republics that are going to have to get rid of him
Bush is their worst nightmare in 2008, and if i may say so, the democrats fondest dreams. A madman chasing failed war policies into oblivion.

some form of what you suggest appears to me to be likely

6. And how exactly do you plan
to get Bush to pick the person that is going to stab him in the back? The congress gets to vote on the VP but its still someone selected by the Pres.

7. The requirements are actually HIGHER than those for impeachment
Edited on Thu Dec-21-06 06:44 AM by NYC Liberal
So you're better off impeaching him. Or at least have more of a chance.

According to the 25th Amendment (where this process for declaring the president unable to carry out his duties is laid out), we'd need a majority of the cabinet as well, AND 2/3 of BOTH Houses.

For impeachment and conviction, "all" we'd need is a simple majority of the House, and 2/3 of ONLY the Senate. That's it.

13. Good point
I'm just trying to do a work around on the whole "Impeachment Fatigue" we'll be hearing about, as they compare a BJ to numerous actual crimes.

Still, I think the right wing are so scared at this point that they just might go along with this..

More and more voices are claiming he's 'delusional' or just plain crazy, and if you get guys like my neighbor saying it, then it's definately OUT THERE in the joe sixpack world..

Bush has so lowered the bar in the office that we might as well have a Presidential LOTTO every 4 years and pick someone, anyone in the US to be President :)

Sometimes, you CAN win with an inside straight tho, stranger things have happened..
