11. Or they only released the views of troops they want us to hear... |
|
remember the Iraqi Study Group went against everything moron* forces down our throats. Agreeing with them, would further reinforce his* failed leadership. Making it look like he's* agreeing with the troops, appears sympathetic.
Nothing, not a thing, happens by accident in Washington. Especially when it comes out of morons* office or mouth.

3. How about "SOME Troops tell Gates to send more troops" |
|
Edited on Thu Dec-21-06 09:01 AM by ShortnFiery
Most likely the vast majority of these "spring-butts" are the ones that can be termed holding "in the rear with the gear" MOSs (Military Operational Specialties); not the poor bloodied members of daily patrols of Infantry and MP units. :(
IMO, most combat troops want to "take care of their buddies" within their squad and come home as soon as their tour is completed. But the tours are recurrent and seemingly never ending. As a society, America is in for a rude awakening when soldiers who have been in and out of combat zones 3, 4, 5, and perhaps 6 times experince increasing difficulty as they *adapt* to the civilian world.

8. Right. "Some troops" would have been better. These quotations |
|
from the article spell it out:
"Defense officials traveling with the defense secretary said they did not know how the soldiers who met with Gates were chosen from the 134,000 troops in Iraq." "While unscientific and perhaps not representative of troops’ thoughts overall, the soldiers’ views are among those Gates is weighing as he drafts recommendations for Bush."
"While unscientific and perhaps not representative of troops’ thoughts" - WTF! Why go through these motions with a group of "Potemkin" soldiers? I will guarantee you that I could find a group of the same number of soldiers who not only want the US out of Iraq yesterday, but want Bush and Cheney pickled in vinegar and put on traveling display by Ripley's...

troops in the field ever say; "No, Sir, we have enough support for this mission (under breath: "what ever THAT is"). We are just fine, Sir."
Hell, even Ug and Mork wanted backup when fighting with other tribes over the Mastodon carcass.

5. I question this article's genuineness. |
|
The problem is not going to be fixed just by holding back some of the violence long enough to get Iraq soldiers trained. We have already done that, we had just about met our goals on trained Iraqi soldiers, the problem is the soldiers are not loyal to the government as a whole, but to their small secs. And, in the meantime, the insurgency will be adding more of their men and obviously, they don't seem to have a problem training them for violence and battle at all.

as what the hell "victory in Iraq" truly means.

10. Most of the troops don't know... |
|
of the logistical nightmare of getting supplies thousands of miles from the US. If they think they don't have enough ammo and armor now... just wait until another 30,000 troops get into the area.
Most troops don't know much about the "big picture".
