New CNN Poll!

Giuliani 49%, Obama 40%
Obama cleans Romney's clock 51-35

Gore tied with Rudy and Mac, cleans Romney's clock too.

This is all with many not knowing much about Obama still...

1. Polls mean nothing now.
Edited on Thu Dec-21-06 10:10 AM by EdwardM
All this is, is name recognition. McCain has good name recognition from his 2000 moderate republican campaign. McCain's rating will nosedive once the campaign starts and it becomes known he wants 100,000 more troops in Iraq.

2. Very true...
A Dec. 2006 poll is Jan. 2008's toilet paper.

3. yeah, but...
As the OP mentions, not many know much about Obama. That is why this is significant.

McCain's position on the war is a loser. I'm surprised he can't see that.
What a fool/tool.

11. people need to realize
I personally believe that this country has made some good strides in the past couple generations in the racism area. I also believe that there is much more racism out here in the heartland than people realize, especially the pundits on T.V. Polls can be misleading, what happens in the privacy of a voting booth is often different that what one is willing to say to a poll taker.

The two oldest generations of voters were raised in a very racist society. I am in my mid 50's and can remember how easily my uncles, aunts and other relatives used the N word, usually in a derogatory manor. Hell, even the kids game "ring around the rosey" contained the N word. This was in the midwest, and other than the military most of these people had never met a black man. These weren't bad people, they just hadn't had the opportunity to form their own opinions, so went with what they had learned from their fathers, grandfathers, uncles. I think that there are many people of this age that will have a hard time voting for a black president.

As the world and the country have become smaller more people get the opportunity to make their own judgements about members of the other races. This is a good thing. We are making progress, and will continue to make progress into the future. But we are not there yet. We are still a generation or two from being able to elect a black president.

Georgies disastrous wars are now permanently hung around his aged neck. And the

9. McCain = Bob Dole
He is only giong to be nominated because it is his turn, there is no Bush in the wings in 08, and he wants to play president. Whomever we nominate will beat this tired, old wannabe.

12. McCain's a nut.
Looney tunes. That's why Bush was able to sink him. A Democrat can do the same thing eight years later. He's getting old.

15. As bad as the Republicans have done
How can it be possible that it will still be difficult to defeat them. People still do not get that everything that has happened is Republianism - not just Bush. And yet DUers still don't think the media is the problem. *sigh*

16. Almost 2 years from the election.
2 years leaves plenty of time for any of the candidates to completely blow their chances.
