The Dave Delp story HELPS SHEEHAN - THANK YOU DUMBASS PUKES.
Edited on Wed Feb-01-06 02:23 PM by rpgamerd00d
Case 1: Dave Delp (Republican)
Clintons Impeachment (not SOTU), wears shirt w/ political statement. Removed, NOT ARRESTED.

Case 2: Young's wife (Republican)
Bush SOTU 2006, wears shirt w/ political statement. Removed, NOT ARRESTED.

Case 3: Cindy Sheehan
Bush SOTU 2006, wears shirt w/ political statement. Removed, ARRESTED.

The issue has nothing to do with the Shirt. That part is CONSISTANT IN ALL CASES.

The INCONSISTANCY IS THE ARREST.

The ARREST is ILLEGAL.

That's the real issue.

If it wasn't for the PUKES, Cindy would only be able to present YOUNG vs SHEEHAN to demonstrate the inconsistancy in her manhandling by the Cops.

BUT THANKS TO THE PUKES CINDY NOW HAS A 2nd CASE TO PRESENT TO SUPPORT HER CLAIM OF CIVIL RIGHTS VIOLATION.

THANK YOU DUMBASS PUKES FOR THE ASSISTANCE !

2. Cohen V. California -- Precedent for Cindy
Appellant was convicted of violating that part of Cal. Penal Code § 415 which prohibits "maliciously and willfully disturb the peace or quiet of any neighborhood or person . . . by . . . offensive conduct," for wearing a jacket bearing the words "Fuck the Draft" in a corridor of the Los Angeles Courthouse. The Court of Appeal held that "offensive conduct" means "behavior which has a tendency to provoke others to acts of violence or to in turn disturb the peace," and affirmed the conviction. Held: Absent a more particularized and compelling reason for its actions, the State may not, consistently with the First and Fourteenth Amendments, make the simple public display of this single four-letter expletive a criminal offense. Pp. 22-26.

1 Cal. App. 3d 94, 81 Cal. Rptr. 503, reversed.

4. Nope, its real. NY Daily News, Feb 11, 1999
It showed up in a Lexis search:

SHIRT GETS TEACH A DRESSING-DOWN Daily News (New York) February 11, 1999, Thursday

Daily News (New York)
February 11, 1999, Thursday
SECTION: News; Pg. 7

LENGTH: 179 words

HEADLINE: SHIRT GETS TEACH A DRESSING-DOWN

BYLINE: BY THOMAS M. DEFRANK

BODY:
WASHINGTON A Pennsylvania school teacher was yanked out of a VIP Senate gallery and briefly detained last week during the impeachment trial for wearing a T-shirt with graphic language dissing President Clinton.

Dave Delp, 42, of Carlisle, Pa., and a friend had just settled into their seats last Saturday when four Capitol security guards approached them. Delp said yesterday he was ordered to button his coat and follow the guards. Outside the chamber, he was told "several people felt threatened by your shirt," which said, "Bill Doesn't Inhale He Just S---s."

It's in the online Daily News archives, but there's a fee for retrieving it.

10. Do you have a link?

IF the story is true it still does not equate with Mrs. Sheehan's sitaution. She had a t-shirt with a fact on it. The purported Delp story tells of a man with an obscene opinion printed on it.

edit: sp.

13. FR folks say they "planted" story in Daily News - Perhaps the Daily News
did the research and found it true - or not.

Other than the Daily News there is no other non-FR /non-Drudge reference coming up.

In any case, he was not arrested - at least in the Daily News Story.

via the lack of an arrest.

22. Uh, yeah, they now claim it was planted all on account of your post
:eyes:

There is no verification of the Delp story. Just as there is no independent verification (i.e., photographic evidence) of Bev Young's removal from the chamber. None.

6. There is reality...
...and then there is what the American public thinks is reality. When it comes to politics, what matters is what the American public thinks is reality. So while what you wrote is true - its gonna play out as both cases being the same in the media. And the Repubs knew this when they brought it up. Talk radio will amplify it and MSM will parrot it.

I think she has always been a Democrat, and was distressed about the war when Casey was deployed.

My understanding is that her whole family is Republican. I'll hold out for some kind of confirmation through a news site.

20. Don't get me wrong
But is it conceivable that the person that arrested her did so out of personal zeal which may not have been consistent with the Administration's strict compliance orders? I just can see that things would happen so quickly that people around them would assume that Cindy instigated the situation (as was mistakenly reported by MSM) and admitted by even Randi ("What did she do?").

It appears as if this was a mistake on the Police's part and Cindy's celebrity as a protester didn't help dissuade them.

It seems consist as you point out that political Tshirts are not appreciated in the hallowed halls.... I just wished that the ushers had just asked her to close the jacket and be done with it.

I just don't think this story merits any more time because, afterall, there are still thousands of troops in Iraq being confronted by guerilla warfare. We should focus our efforts on her primary message, not yesterday's incident.

24. Point taken
Perhaps what I was getting at the most was that we should make a conserted effort to be as objective as possible...sometimes DU goes into a liberal frenzy that is unjustified.... I would just like to see some objective arguments that can really show the undecided what the Administration is all about. IF that means that we will condemn them for ousting Mrs. Young, so be it... It shows some bi-partisan outrage that makes us look more evenhanded thats all.
