4. Think happy thoughts...
> It's Winter Solstice the sun will start coming back.

Actually, it's already been coming back in the afternoon
and staying at work a little longer each day, it's just
that it's been sneaking into work even later and later
each morning. But as of 7:22 this evening, the Sun has
promised to shape up and start putting in longer hours
on our behalfs.

9. Blessed Solstice to one and all
Yule is the time of greatest darkness and the longest night of the year. The Winter Solstice had been associated with the birth of a "Divine King" long before the rise of Christianity. Since the Sun is considered to represent the Male Divinity in many Pagan Traditions, this time is celebrated as the "return of the Sun God" where He is reborn of the Goddess.

10. How DARE you celebrate the solstice
Jesus obviously didn't approve of that pinko hippie shit, celebrate his miraculous and sexless "birth" dammit! If you don't we'll have 6 more weeks of winter.

Anyway, everyone knows the Sun is controlled by Gawd, it has nothing to do with the tilt of the Earth. I hear the Saddamists, Muslims, Iranians and Liberals just made that up to upset the fundies.

11. Yay! It really is the most inspiring day for me.
As a gal in Minnesota who only receives 8.5 hours of daylight at this time of year, winter solstice is really a celebration, because our days will only get longer from now on! Yay! :bounce: Happy Solstice to all!
