Is MSNBC using Keith Olberman as a "model" for their other talk shows? |
|
Because, for the first time in their history, they have a "newscaster" or talking head that is ranking near the top in the rating. In some 15-minute intervals, Olberman was beating Bill O'Reilly, the king of the ratings.
Some have noted how Chris Matthews and Joe Scarborough have turned on the Bush Administration lately. Even Joe Scarborough! The former Republican Congressman from Florida! Is this just a natural turn of events or is this a planned course of action, to give the Democrats more favorable coverage and to criticize the Bush Administration and the Republicans more?
Because Keith Olberman's ratings have shot up the more he criticized Bush and the Republicans. Even those in charge of MSNBC could see the wwriting on the wall. The viewing public was hungry for a different viewpoint - something that more resembled their concept of the truth. Could this be happening at MSNBC?

1. It's happening in the country, so it happens on TV. |

3. I think this admin is frightening many people, and they're responding. |

Check this out, kentuck, from Scarborough last night, and prepare to be amazed. http://www.crooksandliars.com/2006/12/21/12969/

6. Mine was, too. And I did get the impression the talking heads are |
|
incredulous and actually frightened at the prospect of this little, delusional man remaining in office. It was certainly 'in your face'.

9. Scarborough's panelists last night looked and sounded |
|
very grim. I think most thinking people in this country are now as frightened of ** as those of us here at DU have been for a while. Mike Barnicle in particular was intimating that ** may be certifiably insane. The words "delusional" and "paranoid" were used, and I'm thinking he meant that in the clinical sense, not the vernacular.

7. That's great. I don't care why they're doing it, as long as they |
|
keep coming around. Yay, Mike Barnacle! Chris Matthews has been better, but I had to turn him off the other day. Doesn't he claim to be a Dem? Sure doesn't act like it.

8. Joe Scarborough has been moderating his views for a while, |
|
I think in order to attract viewers from both sides of the political spectrum. Chris Matthews worked for Democratic Congressman and Speaker of the House Tip O'Neill many years ago and also was for Kerry in '04, so he has been fairly moderate too. Keith Olberman is truly a liberal and in my opinion has by far the best show on MSNBC.

10. I think Scarborough's turning point |

was Katrina. I've seen a huge difference in his attitude since that disaster.

11. Now would be the time to hire back Donohue |
|
with his populist type of formatted show where he has guests and takes questions from the audience. I think it could be a hit. They should give him Tucker's nearly dead show.

12. I think they realize that to win viewers back from netroots...they need |
|
to speak the truth. All networks and newsmagazines have seen their numbers drop. Keith Olberman shows that there is still a market out there for real news instead of propaganda from the * WH. Moderates and Dems don't normally watch the news so they can be misinformed.
