First off, I'm positively sure that the inflammatory statements and cartoons about Islam that come from the RW'ers help calm the situation that we face today.

:sarcasm:

So, you've got RW'ers saying "Haha! Look at the stupid Muslims! Look at how they pray, isn't that funny?! Let's draw some cartoons about them and make fun of them!" But, then they turn around and say "BUT, LOOK OUT!!!! THEY'RE COMING TO KIIIIILLLLL YOU!!!!!"

When they're not making fun of all Muslims, they go around talking about how tiny amount of Extremist Muslims are plotting to kill you right now and why we should give up our freedoms so the terrorists can't use the First Amendment against us. Turn on Fox News right now. Chances are that you will see something terror related either as a main story or in the crawl.

So, who are the terror cheerleaders?

1. They certainly contribute. Debbie Schlussel is assisting too -
she wants to know if Obama should be president, and she asks if we want a Muslim (although he's a Christian) "as President when we are fighting the war of our lives against Islam".

2. It's worse than this
by supporting the Islamophobia in this country, the wingers give the hardline fundamentalists all they need to try and convince others that the actions of moderate/progressive Muslims won't help at all--and so the hardliners persecute the moderate/progressives. Sufis in Iran have been arrested, their meeting place destroyed, because they were called "tools of the West" because Sufi orders are international, and call for peace.

3. Speaking of Iran...
Wasn't it Bush's tough talking that got Ahmadinejad elected?

Just more evidence that RW'ers are terrorist cheerleaders.

4. Tom Delay's blog approves of the Taliban
Proving that right wingers have no sense of satire (or knowledge of English literature), in their (Delay doesn't really write any of it) Carnival of Conservatives, they link to Jon Swift's Taliban Rules, an entirely tongue-in-cheek praise of the Taliban's internal rules:

After reading them, I'm beginning to think we may have misjudged the Taliban and it may not be such a bad thing after all that they are coming back into power. And with just a little tweaking these Taliban Rules could be adopted by Republicans in Congress, replacing the Ferengi Rules of Acquisition which the last session of Congress had unofficially adopted. A Talibanesque Contract with America might just be enough to restore the confidence of the American people in the Republican Congressional leadership.
...
I think the GOP could learn a lot from the Taliban, who may not be so different after all.
