Monterey County, CA Registrar Tony Anchundo Pleads 'No Contest' to 43 Criminal Charges
Now-Former 13-Year Election Official Who Once Told us Voters Need to Have 'Trust and Faith' in How He Would Count Votes --- May Avoid Jail Time in Light of Plea Deal

In October of 2005, just prior to Monterey County, California's November election with their new, Registrar of Voters Tony Anchundo and I had an exchange on the radio where the 13-year elected official told me, "There is obviously going to have to be some trust and faith in the elections official, or in this case, it's me."

In July of 2006, Tony "Trust Me" Anchundo was charged with 43 criminal counts, including charges of forgery, misapplication of funds, embezzlement, falsification of accounts and grand theft of nearly $80,000 of county money.

And finally yesterday, Anchundo pleaded "no contest" to all 43 criminal charges...

Tom Feeney Says Democratic Congressional Exercise of Constitutional Duty in FL-13 Election Challenge is 'Total Political Dictatorship'
And Who Knows 'Total Political Dictatorship' Better Than the Corrupt, Bully-Boy Feeney?!

(Who Also Has Now Had a Congressional Challenge Filed in His Own Election!)

Tom Feeney (R-Abramoff) is back! And he's not taking any shit from any of those democracy loving pussies! "That is total political dictatorship," Feeney tells the Orlando Sentinel today in regard to the Congressional election challenge filed yesterday by Democrat Christine Jennings in the U.S. House after 18,000 votes disappeared in her recent election in Florida's 13th District, leading to a reported "loss" by 369 votes to Republican Vern Buchanan...

'Daily Voting News' For December 20, 2006

Today's news is dominated with reports from Sarasota County and the first day of court hearings to determine the path of action that will be followed in the disputed Buchanan-Jennings congressional race. Yesterday experts for Jennings and the voters testified about why the machines are at fault. The hope is that the judge will allow an expert to spend a couple weeks reviewing the ES&S source code. Of course ES&S is doing all it can to stop anyone from taking a peak under the hood. Today ES&S's only expert, a political science professor, testified under cross examination that in his opinion if there had been no problems Jennings would have won. ES&S fielded NO computer scientist to testify that there were no problems with the software but that is not unexpected as they wouldn't really want to expose anyone to the possibility of cross examination where they would probably take a beating. Court is done. Both sides have until noon on Friday to submit their closing statements in writing and then it's up to the judge whether the experts get to look at the source-code....

Humor Discovered in 'Prickly City' as Democrat Takes Over Republican Comic Strip for a Week...

Last week we covered the very lame duck, Mallard Filmore, whose right wingnut and unfunny creator Bruce Tinsley had been arrested, yet again, for drunkeness (in this second instance, while driving).

But there was more news of note last week from the rightwing comic strip world as Prickly City's creator Scott Stantis has been recuperating from rotator cuff surgery and Guest Cartoonists have been taking his place.

Here's how things began last week as the strip was taken over by centrist --- and apparently Democratic --- editorial cartoonist Matt Davies...

1. Dam, is Feeney telling us something or what?
I would say projection is one of his stronger attributes.

'Total Political Dictatorship'. Gosh, I can't imagine who that really applies to. :eyes:

7. Feeney's complexion always reminds me of a scabbed over sunburn.
He needs to cut back on his appointments on the back nine.
