Just thought of a great T-shirt protest campaign
What if every day, one person for every dead American in Iraq showed up at the White House wearing a black shirt? Today, that would be 2,245 black shirt clad protesters. No signs, no banners, no screaming, no slogans, just a simple standing protest. As the number of dead soldiers grows, the number of protesters would grow.

This wouldn't have to be just limited to the White House, we could duplicate this in cities throughout the nation.

I think such a protest would speak volumes.

1. It would make great TV too, if only they'd show it.

2. How about a single red finger to signify the blood of the dead...
Since obviously purple fingers are deemed acceptable, the precedent has been established.

4. Black shirts would be much more visible
But we could incorporate the red finger as well. It should be something simple and dignified, however.

10. indicates that a person voted in the Iraqi election
a method of stopping fraud (guess there were no Diebald machines there to insure the fraud took place the right way). Repukes put on the purple to show that the Iraq war was "worth it" because we brought "democracy and freedom" to Iraq.

11. Last year at the SOTU, the Republicans dipped the fingers in purple ink...
Because the voters in Iraq used that same method to identify who voted in that 1st election...remember, freedom is on the march.:puke:

3. Bush would just wink at Cheney and say:
"I'll bet I can make 3000 people show up by next week"

The Evil Bastard!

7. Women in black
Before I knew about the women in black, I suggested we protest in burqa's to symbolize the silencing of dissent. Women in black do that, more or less. In any event, what we're really missing is substance. We've got drama, but no substance thus no credibility. We need visuals on the lack of progress on securing loose nukes, on Iraqi troop preparedness, on the increase in terrorist attacks, on international efforts to combat radicalism. It isn't as dramatic as bloody fingers and caskets, but credibility is essential in gaining support.

9. I agree with you
That's why I suggested a dignified, somber protest. It's far too easy to dismiss protest rallies where the protesters are yelling slogans, chanting, carrying signs & banners, etc. I think a protest like the one I described could speak volumes more than a raucus group ten times as large ever could.

12. Yep
I'm just trying to figure out ways to add more info. Different people resond to different stimuli. For instance, Korean War generation responds to having their egos fed, like to feel smart. Boomers like to feel energized. Moms like sensibility and direction. We have to reach everybody, that's all I'm saying. I like your idea, I really do.
