10. The morning after is always pretty amazing.
It's like being in a totally different place. Everything looks and feels different. I love it.

2. Those are cool. (literally I guess!) -Since I don't live in the snow,
is there a point when you have to clear the snow off of your roof so it doesn't collapse?

Or can roofs handle that? I've always been curious, because I've heard stories about collapses.

6. I don't worry about the roof too much
although I did have to knock some snow off the gutters, you can see in the last picture that the snow was forming a shelf at the edge of the roofs from the wind blowing, it was sticking off about 3 or 4 feet. The kids and I chucked snowballs at the shelf till it collapsed, it was kinda fun. Shovelling however was a bitch. My back is killing me.

18. For people who have backs that can easily handle shoveling,
Those are extremely frustrating.

49. The curve of the handle keeps the shoveler upright, which puts
Less stress on the back, but it also makes it nearly impossible to lift the snow as high, fling it as far, or drive the shovel as deep by blocking use of the back muscles.

12. We used a roof rake
We live just west of Denver and the snow was furious. So yesterday I got the rake at Ace. We did this since we had roof damage from snow several years ago. It was repaired when we got a new roof this summer due to a hail storm this year.

A lot more snow fell last night. Hubby worked on the south side of the house again today. I hope we're okay up there. Hopefully the sun will be strong enough to do the rest of the job in the days ahead.

4. Nice pics! I'm guessing that's your neighbor's house...? Don't see any footprints
:D

I remember a similar snow many years ago in Lusk, WY (a couple hundred miles north of Denver). It's beautiful and a little scary too.

7. Yeah that's across the street from me.
Nobody even went outside till this afternoon, hence the no footprints, when I finally did go out it was up past my knees. I'd say 2 and a half to 3 feet. I shoveled show from 1pm till about 5.

I've never used one at all, but why am I getting an image of only being able to see the handle of the thing sticking out of the snow bank? "Darn, why isn't this working?"

44. LOL! When Dubya got his first chainsaw, he took it home and
worked with it for half a day to cut down one little tree. So he took it back to Home Depot and complained "This darn thing cuts awful slow". The salesman says "Well, let's have a look", pulls the rope and starts it up. Dubya jumps back and says "What the hell is that NOISE?"

24. Hey, my car broke down in Lusk, Wyoming.
It was the summer of 1977 and I was on my way to South Dakota, when my Chevy blew a fuse. A deputy stopped and gave me a ride to a filling station. It was about 10:00 at night and the station was closed but some guys were in the back playing cards. The owner sold me a little box of fuses and the deputy took me back to my car. Everyone was very nice but I was only 22 and very scared by the whole episode. I'm not sure what I thought was going to happen but I was ready to bolt at any second. They must have thought I was a little nervous. :P

30. I spent the summer there over several years as a teenager. My dad was drilling oil wells
a little ways north of town. I haven't been back there for 30 years but I won't ever forget discovering that there were a lot of gay cowboys in that little burg. :D (I'm not kidding...I got hit on by a bunch of Brokeback types in those days!)

I like the snow. We had a snow like this 10 yrs ago (Pacific NW), makes a nice break from the winds and rain. Thank you for the pictures, lets us understand why the airport is shut down.

They remind me of when we were stationed in Colorado during the early 1960s. Sleds and snowball fights!

because of the wind...

but everytime I move I miss them. I also missed the big storm in Chicago in the late 90's. I'm so pissed!

Be safe. Stay warm!

47. I went outside last night about 10PM...
The snow was still blowing sideways and the visibility was up to about a block and a half and all you could hear was the wind. You get used to "city noise" around here and the quiet was kind of eerie. I've lived here for 18 years and this is the second worst blizzard I've seen since I've been here. It's been inconvenient, hard work, scary and dangerous driving but amazingly beautiful and an incredible display of Momma Nature's power. It's why I live in Colorado.

23. That used to be a regular sight in NE Ohio.
In some places, it still is.

But at the very most, we now get bitter cold in place of the snow.

Not this year though. Save one bad week, it's been rainy and 44-51 all December.

39. Thanks, dude..I'm emailing
this to my sis. We're in New York now but grew up in Denver where all the snow is.

I remember coming home from work at midnight in Lakewood, Colo after a snow storm and just in awe of all the winter white wonderland of the three acres I was living on. Everything was whiteout! I said to myself.."you always have to remember how beautiful this is!".
