Wow, Donald Trump's crying like a huge baby brat to Larry King about Rosie
What a friggin idiot he is. He's doing the Larry King show live from his private jet, and he's screaming and whining all kinds of absurdities toward Rosie O'Donnell just because Rosie mocked him on The View today over that stupid Miss USA thing. They showed a clip of Rosie mocking him, and she was not only hilarious but she was spot on about Trump. Then Trump even started bragging about how many billions he's worth and how he's going to sue Rosie because it would be fun for him to do so. Then he was telling King over and over how bad a person Rosie is, how fat and ugly she is, and yada yada yada. Now who the hell is Trump to be calling someone else fat and ugly? For someone who's worth so many billions, you'd think he could afford a mirror!

I've always been a bit indifferent when it comes to Rosie, but she's my hero for the day, just for plastering that royal dork.

1. I don't have much use for either of them, but
it seems odd that somebody like The Donald, being richer than God, even gives a damn about what somebody else says about him, especially on some lame show like The View, which hardly anybody even watches anyhow.

His hair is a mess. And he has filed bankruptcy.

If he continues insulting overweight women (and most American are), they'll stop watching his shitty show the apprentice.

I can't believe that on DU there are people who like this corporatist, egotistical asshole.

At least Rosie is funny, liberal, and gives shitloads of $ to charities.

A serendipitous PR stunt, but a stunt nonetheless.

If anyone doubts it, just watch their respective ratings increase.

These two people travel in very, VERY different circles.

Rosie is a true progressive...a lesbian. Chump is an asshole...and he can't stand for having a lesbian mocking him. He is a very self-entitled jerk who is used to having his ass kissed AT ALL TIMES. He is used to having young women licking his boots...and now Rosie insults him. No...this ain't no stunt.

that was geared to give Donald much needed attention that he constantly strives for, and fame and fortune for Miss Implants USA, Tara Conner. I've never seen anyone with a phonier crying act than what Miss USA did yesterday in that stupid artificial "second chance" news conference that Trump held.

you get it, while the others here who have a problem with certain less appealing aspects of her personality, which, admittedly, can be grating, fail to understand that she IS a progressive with ACCESS to the media, a rarity these days.

that's why the likes of OReilly, Scarborough (fasicst in populist clothing), etal, are so virulent in their attacks on her, and anyone else (Dixie Chicks, anyone?) who dare speak against the criminally insane powers that be

She lied about his business and financial dealings. He'll sue and he'll win, because she lied.

Now, if she tries to sue him for saying she's a "fat slob" and that she's a disaster because her previous show got yanked and her magazine dealings ended in a lawsuit, do you think she'll win on the facts?

life doesn't have anything to do with the lies she told about his business dealings. That's what the lawsuit would be about.

She has every right to voice her opinion about his personal morals, and he has every right to voice his opinion of hers. That's not what the lawsuit would be about.

It's next to impossible for a public figure to win a slander suit - it has been done, but so rarely that I can only think of one similiar case: Carol Burnett v. The National Enquirer for libel (which is the written word).

He can bluster all he wants - and he may be TECHNICALLY correct - but he would have to prove that she said it KNOWING it wasn't true - and, she shows on her website that she THOUGHT it was true.

Just stating a fact as a communications major who was never sued for either slander or libel. :)

he's one of those forms that one thinks can't possibly sink any lower, but like members of the BFEE, always find a way to reveal themselves to be worse than anyone can possibly imagine.

You can state an opinion about what you think will happen. You can't, however, lie about something that is established fact, and that's what she did.

And remember, his attorney could put Barbara Walters under oath about what she said to him on the phone about Rosie's negative impact on The View.

PERSONAL bankruptcies instead of his corporations' bankruptcy filings?

care to elaborate for us?

he won't sue...that's why he said 'probably sue'

he's the lowest form of slug there is, right around Rove's level

tell you what: humor me and show me the post in which you dealt with his several corporate bankruptcies

then I'll apologize for my poor reading comprehension skills, cause all I've seen is where you called her a liar, while denying he ever filed for bankruptcy.

the reason he said he'd PROBABLY sue her, among myriad others, is that she was clearly referring to his corporations' lousy financial performances (how many casinos file for bankruptcy?), and were he head into court on that basis, he'd be laughed off the docket

46. Good grief.
Rosie said he went bankrupt three times. He didn't.

Rosie has the Wiki article on her blog, which doesn't even support what she said.

The reason no one is addressing his "several" bankruptices is because there aren't "several" of them.

He'll sue, and he'll win. I will put any wager on that.

how much you want to bet that he even sues?

half of his net worth?

and I notice that you didn't bother to mention the unfortunate reality of his CORPORATE bankruptcies, to which she was clearly referring, as those do exist, whether you choose to acknowledge them or not

what a surprise.....

72. five thousand on what?
whether he sues, or whether he wins?

since there will never be a lawsuit, what's the time limit on his not filing?

who's going to hold my $5000 for how long?
seriously.

cause there won't be any lawsuit.

and if you're that poorly informed about his corporate state of affairs, I almost feel guilty about taking your money.

and I have no problems discussing terms in the open

who holds the money? and how long do I have to wait for the nonexistent lawsuit to not occur before I get to keep yours?

six months?

I can wait that long.

easiest five thousand I'll ever make

75. The fact that she said "3" doesn't make his case. Not by a long shot.

He has to prove damage to his reputation because she said 3. If he's had some bankruptcies and she said 3, it doesn't mean he has a case.

Guess what? You can't damage the reputation of a businessman who is already a laughingstock to begin with. Particularly when he already has bankruptices in his column to start with.

If you said a guy molested 3 children and he really molested 2, do you think he has a slander case? He doesn't.

This morning, while Trump was spewing bile on every television show on the dial, Rosie was on the View proudly introducing her 'Rosie's Broadway Kids'. Rosie does wonderful things with her money and she is a staunch supporter of Progressive issues. She and her partner are providing a stable and loving home for their four children, something Trump has never done with any of his children.

Trump could learn about class from Rosie.

100. that's right, and guess who's a HUGE cheapskate?
http://www.thesmokinggun.com/archive/trumpcheap1.html

''There's something about this Donald Trump guy that rubs us the wrong way--and it's not the greed, arrogance, megalomania, or that golden swirl perched on his noggin. The, um, star of NBC's "The Apprentice" is, as he is always quick to note, a New York City billionaire who has more juice than Con Ed.

But when it comes to philanthropy, Trump is probably the country's least generous corporate baron. While fellow titans like Bill Gates and David Geffen have used their charitable foundations to make many significant donations, Trump is, by comparison, an absolute cheapskate.''

surprised, anyone?

note that he gave ZIPPO to 9-11 related charities!

The War of the Rosie

In raging times, one must take sides, and I have taken mine.

My sympathies are clear and unequivocal.

I support Rosie O'Donnell.

Not in every instance, not in every utterance, not in every dispute, but generally, predominantly, and temperamentally I find myself on her side when controversy erupts.

As it has done in the last two days with the belching assault on her character, talent, looks, career, and sexual orientation by the oafish Donald Trump. Commenting on the teary psychodrama that Trump staged this week to pardon Miss USA Tara Conner for her trespasses (a media spectacle Steve Gilliard filed under the blogline "This is fucked up") and to enjoy a free tanning session under the TV lights, Rosie noted that Trump's own track record in the marital department made him a dubious enforcer of morals clauses. She also made reference to his sweeping comb-over, a comment not likely to win favor with his vanity.

It was perfectly appropriate for Trump to issue an oral riposte or two. Given the Marie Antoinette flounciness of his vanity, a pettish outburst from him was to be expected. But what he gave vent to on The Insider and then on Good Day LA (an interview receiving heavy rotation on Fox News all day) was unpardonably ugly, sexist, homophobic, and plain hateful. To label her repeatedly a loser ("Rosie's a loser"), to disparage her weight and looks ("a very unattractive person," ""Rosie O'Donnell is disgusting, I mean both inside and out" "Take a look at her, she's a slob"), to toss lewd little darts about her lesbianism (praised by the fawning Fox interviewer for giving Tara Conner a second chance, Trump smirked, "I think Rosie's given a lot of girls second chances"),--this was a classic exhibition of the Donald's male chauvinist piggery. And that's a dated phrase, well, Trump's a dated man, exemplifying "class" with a capital K.

So one doesn't expect him to rise above criticism, but to drag criticism down to his coarse level, which he did. (He also repeatedly asserted that The View's ratings were anemic , without any of the interviewers risking incurring his wrath by noting that The Apprentice's ratings have been a downhill climb since season one.)

What I didn't expect, listening to Trump, was to hear him allude to Rosie O'Donnell as "that animal."

"That animal." As if she were livestock unfit to walk upright in the same world as Trump's, or a bug to be squashed beneath his pompous thumb. "That animal"--I'm sorry, but that's so far over the line that you can't even see the line from where those words land. It reflects a contempt that runs even deeper than the contempt Trump spits out regarding those he deems "losers" (i.e., anyone not as rich as he is).

I suspect and expect that one of the themes of 2007 will be the Arrogance of the Super Rich. If so, Trump's Elvis pout and toxic demeanor are getting next year's theme off to a flying start.

This type of crap is part of our culture, correct? It is everywhere in/on the media and people are talking about it.

How is it that we are trying to tell certain parts of the world they need to be more like us, when this type of useless, mind-numbing crap is a relevant part of our society? It makes us look fucking stupid, yet certain factions of our society are absolutey certain we are the best country in the world. Bullshit.
