Man Who Videotaped Rape Of Toddler Gets Life

A Central Florida man who videotaped himself raping a toddler was sentenced to life in prison despite the fact that the judge and jurors could not watch all of the disturbing evidence in the case.

Richard Sylvia was arrested in June 2005 after being accused of raping a 2-year-old girl and videotaping the incident.

Thursday, Sylvia was found guilty of capital sexual battery in the attack.

A 15-minute video of a motionless, apparently drugged, 2-year-old being raped was so disturbing that jurors wept and could barely watch it, Local 6 News reported.

I read (a while back) about a man who was arrested on charges of child molestation or indecency or something else sick and twisted. Anyway, he got shanked while in county that night! A guard must have read the arrest record and informed some local inmates, then turned the other way. Prisoners seem to embrace eye for an eye mentality. In this sickos case that would be too easy of a reprieve for such a lowly individual. very sad.

Worked with child predators and what had been done to them was as bad, if not worse than this. And their abusers many times were not punished because of it being so hard to prove.

And no; not every sexually abused child becomes a predator, others become life long victims and some (luckily) grow up to be psychologically healthy. I worked with all three types, but the predators were the most emotionally disturbing.
