Need help with wingnut e-mail discussion.
I don't want to post the whole thing, but the gist is a comparison of Katrina and North Dakota winter disaster, and how self sufficient the northerners are (it is pretty racist) - how if they had been in NO they would have built better levies (voluntary of course) and then would have been out during the storm filling sandbags (again all voluntary) and nobody would have whined to the govt for help.

I found a link on disaster relief legislation for North Dakota to put in my rebuttal but I need more.

Anybody?

Maybe this is a snopes subject but I am not sure how to search for it.

1. Here's the Snopes entry

www.snopes.com/katrina/soapbox/dakota.asp

It even covers the whole "we wouldn't howl to the government" thing. (they did)

And you can't shovel water. Tell them that, too.

Or, unless they're really close to you, tell them to frack off. That's what I would do.

2. How in the hell can you
fill sandbags or place them during the middle of a hurricane. How can you place enough sandbags to protect anything from a 20 foot (or maybe higher) storm surge. I have been hunkered down in the tail end of one and that was enough for me. The people who write these things never know what they are talking about do they.

5. At least Katrina victims whine about their own problems
