Lowe files suit in clerk's election

The Republican candidate for Green County Clerk (KY), who narrowly lost the November election after the inclusion of absentee votes, filed suit in Green County Circuit Court contesting the election.

Billy Joe Lowe filed the petition Dec. 6 seeking the absentee votes be thrown out and that he be declared the election winner based on the results of precinct voting.

The petition gives only one side and incumbent County Clerk Carolyn Scott, on advice of her attorney, declined to comment on the allegations.

The petition alleges that Lowe, on at least two occasions saw voters enter Scottís personal office where the absentee machine was located and close the door. The petition said Lowe believes on those occasions votes were cast.
