5. Interesting story about the desk, known as the "Resolute Desk..."

It was made from the timbers of the HMS Resolute, commissioned by Queen Victoria as a gift to the US President Rutherford B Hayes. Originally, the modesty shield wasn't included on the desk as presented by Queen Victoria - it was added by FDR to mask the braces on his legs. I believe FDR used the desk in his private study in the WH residence, and used the one pictured above in the Oval Office.
