Really. If the fundies want to insist on displaying Pagan symbols, that's fine with me. As a non-practicing Pagan, I'm all for dragging trees to public squares and decorating them. I'm also completely in favor of the feasting, immoderate drinking, and joyous lightening of the solstice gloom that the lighting of the Yule Log ushers in. The part I'm not that into is the one significant Christian addition to the Holiday--the potlatch-style exchange of wealth, with its attendant New Year's debt and privation. Leave it to the Xtians to fuck up an otherwise lovely holiday.
