Last year at this time, didn't we hear about Wal-Mart's earnings
every time we turned on the TV? They seemed to be using that chain's Christmas sales as a sign that our economy was strong. But then again they will do anything to prop up the chimperor. Guess the earnings are bad this year? So bad that that even the corporate media can't spin it?

2. Walmart announced earlier that they were not expecting
a profit

And from my very uneducated observations from the mall down the road, this season sucked for retailers

4. Add my observation to yours
I was thinking of driving by the mall today to see if the parking lot is full for the first time this season, maybe later if I manage to get some ambition.

I get my prescriptions to Wally World because it's cheapest and closest, two things very important to someone with poor vision. People haven't had those carts full of big boxes this year. They've just been shopping for the usual food and sundries. Five years ago, the overload from the parking lot was all over the area. This year, you can still get parking places close to the store.

I'm sure figures from the luxury market will offset the dismal ones from the prole market, giving us a net sales increase for the year, unadjusted for inflation.

5. I suppose I'm naive, but
if the corporate media was trumpeting all those "good" figures for Wal-Mart 24/7 last year, how do they justify not even mentioning bad figures? I haven't watched any cable news this holiday season. Are they just ignoring the topic completely?
