Lynne Cheney Dismisses Fuss Over Gay Daughter's Pregnancy

WASHINGTON — Vice President Dick Cheney's wife, Lynne, is dismissing the fuss over her openly gay daughter's pregnancy, which has rankled conservative groups.

"Well, I think that it's just very lucky for me that I enjoy being a grandmother and I get to do it for the sixth time," Mrs. Cheney said. Their daughter, Mary, and Heather Poe, her partner of 15 years, are expecting a baby in late spring.

"Dick and I both very much looking forward to this new baby," Mrs. Cheney said in an interview to be aired on Fox News Sunday.

She said her daughter will be a "great mom."

Mrs. Cheney also said she thinks it's odd that her husband's former chief of staff is the only person being tried in the CIA leak case.

"It seems bizarre to me," Mrs. Cheney said.

As much as I can't stand Dick for the obvious reasons, I sense that he really doesn't care one way or another about his daughter's sexual orientation. I don't get that feeling about Lynn though. I really do hope she's happy about this baby and I hope that she's at peace with the idea of having a gay child. There's nothing more pathetic than a parent who's bigoted against their own flesh and blood.

I remember all her fake dudgeon in times past when other people mentioned her daughter's sexual orientation. At least, now it looks like fake dudgeon. Now that it's not politically advantageous to her and her crooked husband, she's free to acknowledge the entirety of her daughter's personhood.
