"War On Christmas" Has A New Jingle: Money
Edited on Sat Dec-23-06 11:55 AM by Mark E. Smith
Christian groups raise funds as they sell items to counter a perceived assault on the holiday

Los Angeles Times December 23, 2006

The "War on Christmas" has never been so profitable.

For the fourth year running, conservative Christian groups have spent much of December
mobilizing against what they see as a liberal plot to censor Christmas.

But this year, it's more than a cause. It's a heck of a fundraiser.

The American Family Assn., a conservative activist group, has rung up more than $550,000
in sales of buttons and magnets stamped with the slogan "Merry Christmas: It's Worth
Saying."

Liberty Counsel, a nonprofit law firm affiliated with the religious right, has taken in more
than $300,000 with its Help Save Christmas Action Packs. The kits include two buttons, two
bumper stickers and "The Memo that Saved Christmas," a guide to defending overt religious
expression, such as a Nativity scene in a public school classroom.

Also for sale through conservative websites: Christmas bracelets, tree ornaments and lapel
pins intended to send a defiant message to those who would turn Christmas into a multi-
cultural mush of "winter parties," "seasonal sales" and "Happy Holidays" greetings.

If somebody is actually conducting this "War on Christmas," they're not doing a very good
job of it. Everywhere I go right now Christmas is out there, and at a blowtorch level of
intensity.

3. Wow.
What a surprise. Who would ever have expected these vermin to ever turn any issue into a money-making opportunity?

4. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. Jesus Christ
"Even if Christians demonstrated the highest standard of ethics, however, that alone would not fulfull the gospel. After all, the Pharisees had impeccable ethics. Rather, Jesus reduced the mark of a Christian to one word. 'By this all men will know that you are my disciples,' He said: 'if you LOVE one another'. The most subversive act the church can take is to consistently obey that one command." Philip Yancey

To love the unlovable and those who cannot help themselves deeply glorifies and pleases God. When we love the outcast and those in need, God’s love is poured out to them. It is through God’s sovereign work that He has blessed us with the opportunity to partner with Him in bringing salt and light to the world through service and good deeds. This is why obedience to these commands pleases Him so much.
When we are obedient to love and serve the poor, we are saying to God that we are willing to love others as He has first loved us. We must always remember that God Himself took the initiative to leave a perfect and sinless atmosphere in order to give perfect love to the sick, the needy, the poor and the lost. In the same way, Jesus invites us to leave what is comfortable in order to serve others in our own lives: ”My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.” (John 15:12)

7. If everyone just says what they are celebrating..it will work out just fine.
No need for a war. People just act as themselves and say what they feel.
