Funnily, it does not feel like 5 years, time flies when you're having fun,
and i'm not even cracked a serious post count yet.... gotta take a year

I saw the banner for DU on the streets of DC during the first inauguration for the guy the SOTUS appointed presidency in 2001.


I signed on right away. I even wrote a column for DU for a while called "Our Man in Toronto." It was a fictional journal of a guy who fled to Canada right before Bush closed the border. "We were strafed by machine gun fire from Texas National Guard F-14's as we crossed the bridge from Buffalo New York over the Niagara River to the fun side of The Falls. We believe the strafing was because Alec Baldwin was one of the refugees traveling with our group."

13. Right after the 9/11 tragedy.....

was when I found this place. It was through a link from another site and I thought I'd check it out. I felt so alone in my feelings about the state of our country, about the illegal usurper that was squatting in our White House. Then I found DU and was greatly comforted by the fact that so many others felt the same way. I wasn't alone anymore. It's been the ONLY reason I've managed to keep my sanity at times.

So, yes. A great big HAPPY HOLIDAYS to all.

Can't "DU" as much as I once was able to do, but I still find great information, great comraderie, some periodic head scratching (or blood boiling) - and I still love it here. Thank you to the Admin for creating and maintaining this place; thanks to all of the volunteer mods who have kept things humming; thanks to the greater DU community for making it a community! Broderbund has an easy printShop software pkg (around $10) and you could make your own cards in a snap..
(called The print Shop 2.0)
I make my own..:)

here's a larger graphic in case you want to snag it for later..

Just add the text in "headline format"..and you're off & running..
