A (not so) Super Walmart opened here yesterday
My friend who LOVES walmart asked me to go with her. I don;t shop at walmart, but she's my friend, so I went with her..

a litle background:

This super walmart is the anchor store of a badly-needed shopping area on the east side of my town. They have been building for YEARS out there, and this is the FIRST shopping center even remotely in that area.

It was built to be a "super" walmart, BUT we have fought them at every turn, and they were rejected for their grocery section. They are so confident that they will eventually wear down the elected officials, they did not downsize the store...in anticipation of getting their grocery section eventually.

So back to our trip...

We got there about 10PM on opening day. The parking lot was not crowded, nor was the store. I counted MORE employees than customers (they were busily stocking and had stuff scattered all over the place..messy messy)

The store itself is cavernous, but the selection of merchandise was nothing special.

They did have a great buy on a 23in color tv for $89..

No real "opening day" style bargains.

We overheard some employees lamenting the fact that their hours had already been cut.. (what they don;t know yet, is that once the store's past the opening day stuff, MOST of THEM will be cut as well)

I ended up buying some red vines licorice and a 97 cent clipboard :)

1. You went to WalMart, and worse
You gave them money....

You should repent, burn the clipboard, and take 37 showers in the next 24 hours.

gross....

5. Ah, but 10 million people "just paying $6" could
In penance, you should go to a small mom'n'pop store and spend $12.

Ego te absolvo...

4. No, Don't burn the clipboard!
Use it to make lists of places to Buy Blue, and to write letters to the Editor. :)
