So far, enjoying the balmy weather in Phoenix
(please pass the parka).
It has been interesting in the small ways politics have come up.
My Mom and I were watching MSNBC, she started telling me that Chris Matthews has always been her favorite talking head.
However, she says, lately she has really liked what Olbermann has had to say--also asking me if I had heard of him.:eyes:
She also told me that she supported Hillary for President--however, this is HUGH!
My Mom has ALWAYS adored John McCain.
We have talked a little here and there, but what surprised me most is the sentiment from the largest segment of our family--Bush HAS to be impeached.
In fact, my cousin's son led a march somewhere in California against Bush--I am looking to find the specifics of it online, and when I do, will certainly pass it along.
I hope you all have as nice of a holiday as I am having.
Happy Holidays to all my friends at DU.

4. Balmy?
I'm freezing over here in Chandler!

I broke out the long underwear and thermal ski socks Friday night.

I tried to buy a space heater at home depot yesterday and they were sold out.

brrrrrr

5. Freezing here in Phoenix
but then, I am one of those rare species -- I am a native of Arizona and a true desert rat.

6. Freezing in Apache Junction, too
But at least the sun is out, the sky is blue, and I don't have to shovel or scrape my windshield!

I'll take a little frost once in a while over snow and blizzards and wind chills.

9. Don't get me wrong
I love it here. You never, ever have to shovel sunshine. I will certainly take our 300+ days of sunshine and our severl months of extreme heat to a blizzard. :D

10. My wife's with her parents over in Queen Valley ...
She's cold.

Her parents moved to a place out near Superior when she was an infant, and that was home until she did Tucson for college. Grad school was in Los Angeles ... she said it never got warm there.

Our kid was born in Rochester, NY, and the day after we brought him home from the hospital the high was 1 (yes, "1" ... Fahrenheit). He'll turn 3 in 8 days, and his constant refrain in Houston (where we live) is "I want to be cold", i.e., 'I'm too hot!!!'

Our son thinks the weather in QV these days is great.

I haven't been to AJ for a few years ... is the Good Apple (formerly "The Good Earth") still there?

11. The Good Apple is still there
Queen Valley is really pretty, but it's too far from "civilization" for me. I'm in the unincorporated Pinal County area between AJ and Gold Canyon, and I love it.

It's probably going to be cold tonight again, and there may even be frost on the windshield tomorrow morning, but I'm not complaining! ;-)

Native..no

Hiya Tansy_Gold and ChazII :hi:

I'm a native Missourian. I lived in SLC and Denver before settling in here over 12 years ago. I don't see me leaving here any time soon (or ever)!

It sure seems to me like we have more and more nights of frost each winter. I think what makes it worse is the houses here just aren't built for cold weather. I sure will be happy next week when winter is over :-)

on edit: Sorry, HorseWithNoName... I meant to say :hi: to you, too. How long are you going to be in the valley of too much sun? It's a great place IMHO.
