One of the best things about Air America Radio
is finding out how many terrific PROGRESSSIVE radio people there are in the business.

During the last couple of years we've lost Marc Maron and Mike Malloy (I know, I could still get them on podcast) but there have been a steady supply of ready replacements and they're ALL good. I like the "Young Turks" and I loved Peter Werve and Thom Hartman is incomparable. Some of these people I'd never heard of or barely heard of before. I'm listening to some subs and "best of" shows now.

I mean, really, there's enough to have TWO liberal networks if we got it together! To spread the message we need more media, progressive media everywhere. Doesn't have to be Air America to get the word out that there is an alternative way of thinking.

1. I agree - I would LOVE it if XM would have TWO liberal channels!
They have two conservative talk channels (three, if you count Faux News), but only ONE liberal talk channel.:grr:

2. Everyone should have an hour a day with
Sam Seder, Rachel Maddow, or Thom Hartman. They are three of the most amazingly smart and politically passionate people I have ever listened to, and I have learned so much from them.

3. I have to add Randi and Marc Maron to your list...
A network of these personalities would be a POWERHOUSE!

4. Unfortunately, you can't podcast Marc Maron.
He doesn't have a show now.

Having him substitute for Sam Sedar all this week just made me realize all over again how much I miss him.

BTW, even if you have XM or AAR on local radio, think about gifting yourself or someone else with a podcast subscription.

It is so wonderful to be able to fast forward through the breaks, or an interviewee you've heard five times that week already, or skip a show feature you don't care for.

You can even skip through Al's stammers and just listen to what Tom Oliphant or Lawrence O'Donnel have to say. :)

Even better, you can run it back that you didn't quite hear or can't believe they said.

7. Cool.
Now that I've completely sworn off MSM, I need my progressive news fix more than ever.

8. 950 AM In The Twin Cities
I can hardly pick it up at all. Much of its time is spent on repeating old programs and Jones Radio's Big Ed Schultz is now on during the late mornings when people are at work and cannot tune in!

It would be a lot nicer if AAR was on a better station and on FM as well.

9. We just found out this week that we are NOT losing Air America in Madison
but I think we have a lot to learn about how to support an affiliate. The cancellation of Air America was purely business reasons, as was its reinstatement. We, the listeners, have to really get out there and grow the market plus reward its advertisers. I'll never take it for granted again.

I wish our signal was stronger too. Its really just Madison and 30 miles out- but that doesn't include any other big cities... a 50-60 mile signal would get into to 3 different congressional districts and a few biggish cities like Whitewater, Janesville, Beloit- well you can hear it there but its scratchy. And Milwaukee is about 70 miles away- thats 2 million people, many of whom are Dem voters. We've got to get an affiliate there.
