For you kiddies, there used to be an ad campaign for this fake plastic called Naugahyde (circa 1960s). It was quite good for fake leather, used for upholstering furniture. We had a couple of 60s modern Naugahyde sofas in my dad's law office, that were nice.

Then they came up with this shapeless animal with two eyes and a mouth called a Nauga. This was to show consumers that they were getting the real Naugahyde, and not an imitation.
