Here are their "NOW" aligned stars (so to speak):

1) Top top Taliban person, a close Osama dude is killed
2) Israel suddenly releases $100 million to Abbas?
3) Casey, and other top military people, do NOT oppose an upsurge!
4) United Nations somehow votes on something, all voted against Iran. WTF?
5) Navy carrier heads to the Persian Gulf
6) Secretary of Defense visits Iraq
7) Oil goes up for 2-3 weeks in a row with no real explanation - Inventories are up and demand is down (warm weather in the NE)
8) China refuses to let its currency float, after all financial US geeks visit last week?
9) Lebanese US backed government does not fall despite opposition from Hizbollhah - protests have been on-going since early December
10) In his last presser of 2006, * says he now thinks we need to increase the size of our military??????????

Nutshell: There is plenty to justify WHATEVER is about to be decided or announced - brace yourselves.

1. Am braced
because I fear they'll do it before the 110th are sworn in and then try to put them over a barrel about funding.

2. Americans just aren't buying B*sh's BS, anymore.
But he's petulant and tin-eared, surrounded by sycophants and incapable of seeing through the fog of his own hubris. So, you're probably correct in assuming that he'll try to pull some sort of stunt. But I have a feeling that, no matter what it is, it will backfire.

4. I think you are right.
We will be in Iran before the end of 2006. Sad, but it's the only way bush can control the congress. i weep.

3. All of that allows them to buy more time
At this point, that is all they can do.

I do not expect any grand unveiling in January. I think they will put off any pronouncement of the "new way forward" until SOTU in February - if then.

The slimy bastards' only game plan is to delay, delay, and wait to puke in the lap of the next POTUS.

Anyway, that's my take on it.
