Ethiopia is lying

They were not forced into war. They provoked the war.
On October 9th, Ethiopian troops entered Somalian territory and helped governmet troops take over a town, according to a BBC reporter.
A BBC reporter said:

1. George W Bush has made it ok to start unprovoked wars.
If America does it, then it must be ok.

2. Eh. It's not like the other side doesn't lie, as well.
They said they were peaceful and had no intentions of waging war to conquer the rest of the country. But their pattern is: Claim attack, overrun area, pause to consolidate gains; claim new attack.... Sometimes it's likely the attack they claimed happened did happen; other times, it's much more likely that the attack they claimed happened was defensive in nature.

I'm not who the first attacker was in all this. Since I trust neither side to tell the truth, it's kind of hard to render a verdict.

I do find the UN to be rather obtuse in all of this, however. They know that countries have been arming the UIC for some time now and probably training some of the UIC's mosque-based militia, and yet they've had an arms embargo in place and done nothing to prevent arms shipments to the UIC. The usual truism "if guns are illegal, only outlaws will have guns" seems to apply. Now that we hear Eritreans and folk from from the Arabian Peninsula are engaged on the Somali side; but no country bordering Somalia--those able to actually do something--is authorized to interfere. Sometimes having the UN as your friend is about like Jeffrey Dahmer as your surgeon.
