1. Wal-Mart being closed?
You mean for today or is your local Wal-Mart closing forever?

2. Closing forever? No...:) I was just being sarcastic. In fact,
in my town of just 25,000, it seems as if Wal-Mart thinks one isn't enough. I've heard tell they're going to build another one. There must still be some mom-n-pop stores still open in town.

3. You may find this interesting
No one in the little town in Arkansas where I work likes WalMart any more. They say it is ugly and unfriendly. We're seeing an influx of smaller chain stores and, yes, some local businesses starting up. This WalMart was the second one Sam Walton created, so maybe it is presaging a change....

4. Walmart is building a super Walmart in our town,
sadly, about 3 blocks from where I live. They will close the old one & that center will turn into a vacated eye sore, as Walmart has stipulated what type of business can lease the old location -- pretty much no business that might compete with them.

We expect increased traffic in our neighborhood & more problems at the major intersections near the store. They dozed a beautiful field of cottonwood trees to make room for the new store & parking lot. It seems our community cares less about the lost jobs & lost quality of life & more about getting cheap crap from China, as there was very little protest over the new super center at the city council meetings.
