A beautiful and timely Christmas story
http://www.kansascity.com/mld/kansascity/news/local/16313443.htm

It's about a couple who own a ranch in Texas and what they do when they discover some border crossers on their land on Christmas Day.

3. Glad you saw this and liked it!
If we can just put a human face on this immigration debate, it really changes the conversation.

7. Lovely, but sadly, I know how too many such tales end
Folks who help the poor travelers sometimes get made an example of and face all sorts of legal problems. Just part of the circus the Cesars put on as diversion for the masses who might otherwise object to ugly reality.

Meanwhile, the fat cats who want cheap labor keep dangling the carrots to temp the travelers to risk it all in a crossing over a very hostile land.

9. That was wonderful.
Having grown up in much the same environment, I know quite a few tales such as that one.

This time of year can bring out the softer elements of hard people.

10. Dang, I'm too old and tough to cry like this over a parable. >snf
where's the tissue

Thanks for the post. A lot of people who read that in the paper were touched today -- how I wish they would remember in July what they felt in December...
