So much for diplomatic immunity convention and respect for Iraqi new 'constitutional democracy'.
Iranian diplomats were invited by Iraq's Pres. Talabani. US still calling the poltical shots for Iraqi leadership. Iraq will never acquire democratic independence as long as the US occupation of Iraq continues with President Bush as Iraq's leader (dictator?)

Iran summons US representative over detention of diplomats

Washington/Tehran- Iran on Monday summoned the Swiss ambassador, whose country represents the United States interests in the Islamic republic, over the detention of Iranian diplomats by the US military in Iraq, ISNA news agency reported. The Foreign Ministry conveyed its protest to US officials via the Swiss ambassador and termed the move as being against all diplomatic norms. -snip-

3. More from CNN
Nice to know that Iraq is a "free" country with it's own government making it's own decisions on foreign affairs....as long as the American occupiers approve.

Iraqi president 'unhappy' about Iranian detentions

Iraqi President Jalal Talabani is "unhappy" that U.S. forces detained two Iranian officials during their recent visit to Iraq, a Talabani spokesman said Monday.

"Two Iranian officials who came to Iraq at the invitation of President Talabani have been apprehended by U.S. troops, and the president is unhappy about it," the spokesman said.

"The invitation took place during the visit of President Talabani to Tehran. It was done in the framework of an agreement to improve security in Iraq."

The spokesman said the Iranians were arrested last week after arriving in Iraq in late November. He described the Iranians as "security officials" but gave no further details.

No one was immediately available for comment at the Iranian Embassy in Baghdad. The U.S. military has not responded to requests for comment.

4. Bush Administration Hypocrisy goes like this .......
"Pakistan is a Sovereign Nation" Therefore the U.S. Military CANNOT go into that country to hunt for Bin Laden: (Unless the U.S. is Invited)
"Iraq under Saddam Husein was a Sovereign Nation" therefore the U.S. Military can invade anyway and enforce regime change, even though Iraq had nothing to do with 911.
"Iraq once again is a Sovereign Nation" and U.S. forces will stay there as long as 'invited' to be there. BUT ..... well as this latest b.s. proves that could change as the Bush regime makes all this shit up as they go along huh. Peace.
