War on Xmas claims first victims: Rash of anti-Semetic holiday vandalism hits Houston.
The "War on Christmas" has claimed its first victim last week: Frosty the snowman... or at least a giant inflatable one in front of a Jewish families' home.

Followed soon after with an inflatable Menorah and Dradle-hugging bear in front of the home of another. To date, more than 20 acts of Christmas vandalism, most against Jewish homes and committed by teenages and one man in his early twenties, across the city of Houston this past week. Here is a link to one early story. I'll try to get some video up tomorrow:

A vandal ransacked Christmas decorations in front of a house in the 900 block of Falling Leaf in Friendswood, but he was caught on tape.

Friendswood police and the homeowner hope that someone recognizes him and turns him in.

But he is not the only vandal.

“We have had a rash of vandalism involving Christmas decorations this year and generally, historically, we’ll have about a dozen over the Christmas holidays. They’re usually pranksters pushing over ornaments and such as that. This year we’ve had a lot of lights pulled down, a lot of inflatables cut and we’ve had actual thefts of decorations,” said Karen Peterson, Friendswood police.

At 21 cases of vandalism and five cases of theft, it is double the usual amount.

1. Why? What are those people doing to anyone else?
Sheesh. Make those kids read the Bible again. Nothing in their actions is okay.

Doesn't justify poking a hole in them...
but, yeah, they are tacky... and surely more than Jews buy those things?

6. My boss, who is Southern Baptist,
has some in his front yard. Don't know of any Jews in the town where I work, but I see a ton of those inflatables around.

12. I did read it. It didn't mention antisemitism. Mugsy did. Are you saying he's a liar?

14. No, it is you that suggest that and you know DU rules do not allow you to make such
comments.

15. I didn't suggest that at all, jody. I think you know that.
For the record, I think Mugsy knows what he's talking about. That would make him right and you wrong in this case.

16. Sorry but I don't know either of you and I take your post as a very covert slap at the OP.
I want no more of you and your agenda. Good Bye, :hi:

4. it happened in Sugar Land too
At the entrance to a subdivision in Sugar Land there was a big menorah made out of PVC pipe that was destroyed.

On my street in West Houston, they caught a couple of kids stabbing those inflatable lawn snowmen.

5. Disgusting
I hope when these bozos are found and prosecuted, they have to serve time doing community service-taking down ornaments and repairing them--and buying some to replace those beyond repair.

8. What's with this headline? There's nothing in the story indicating this is anti-semitic vandalism.

9. In 1977
I had my Christmas lights ripped from the bushes in the front of my house and left broken in my yard, convincing me that outdoor decorations were not something I would be able to do at that house. This stuff happens every year in countless locations. It's is sad and mean spirited, but all vandalism really is so.

13. That happened to me too
at least 30 years ago. Someone kept stealing bulbs out of my string of lights, after that I never bothered putting them up again. There are always assholes who take the fun out of things for others, always has been and always well be.

18. Yeah
It was my first year out on my own. I had just bought a house and was only working part time. Cash was incredibly short, but I wanted to have some Chrisms lights on my "new" house. Came home from work and just about cried when I saw it, because I really didn't have the money to have them just ripped and broken. I know it was some kids walking past going to the Middle School about a block away.... So no lights outside ever again on that house or the one in which I live now... Kinda sad at the time, but stuff happens.
